As I woke up in the morning, the sizzle of the fire being put out seemed to be the source of what woke me. I sit up and look around, remembering where I am. Yuri is up, and is still pouring a pitcher of water onto the fire. Natsuki is rubbing her eyes, and appears to have just woke up as well. Apparently Sayori is out like a rock, because nothing has woken her up yet. It makes sense, that she needs this rest. Who knows what she been through the past few days...
I stand up and help clean up camp to the best of my ability. Being drowsy doesn't help much, but it seems as if everyone else is having a hard time getting things together as well. I start waking up as I help more, and so do the girls. I try to shake Sayori awake but I notice her face is really flushed. I reach a hand down and feel her face. "Shit..." I hiss out. She has a fever. Natsuki gives a concerned look, and Yuri walks up. She feels Sayori's forehead as well, and grimaces. "We have to wake her up and move away from here, or you're going to have to carry her... I have an idea of where to go but it's a couple miles away." She looks nervous. I try to shake Sayori awake, and her eyes flutter. She murmurs out my name softly, but stays asleep. I'm so worried about her.... How long has she been sick? Questions are flooding into my mind at a rapid pace. I close my eyes and take a few deep breathes. I go over to my bag and grab the warmest clothes I have. They'll be big on her, but they'll help with her fever. Hopefully, at least...
I quickly slip my jacket and my scarf onto her. I gently pick her up out of her bag, and Yuri hands me a blanket. I wrap her up in it, and Yuri grabs my bag for me. That'll be helpful, so I don't have so much weighing me down. Sayori keeps mumbling "stop" and "where is y/n" to the point where I'm starting to worry. I try shaking her awake again, and this time she opens her eyes a bit. She looks up into my eyes, her eyelids half shut. She reaches her hand out, touching my face. I lean into her hand, and she gently whispers a soft "thank you" before losing conscious. Her fever makes her whole body burn up, and I'm really starting to become concerned for her. She begins twisting her face in discomfort. "How much longer Yuri?" I ask, concern evident in my voice. "I don't know, 10 minutes or so? Is she holding up all right?" Yuri asks as gently as she can. "I don't think so. We need to get there, now." We all pick up our pace and start following the trail as quickly as we can. Sayori suddenly cries out and clings onto me for dear life. I stop immediately, clutching onto her. "S@#t you guys. We gotta get her medical attention. Something is wrong. This can't just be the flu or something." I'm getting really panicky. What could be happening to her? Why did she cry out like that?? The way she clung onto me... She must be very injured. Yuri walks over and feels Sayori's forehead, and her eyes widen even more. She gets Sayori to drink a bit of water, and we continue the path as quickly as possible. We finally break out of the Grove of gnarly trees and there's a house near a beautiful lake. I don't have much time to enjoy the view but it's the kinda place Sayori would like to vacation at.
Yuri opens the door, and sitting at the dining table are two shocked people I have never seen before. "Sis, why are you here?" One of the girl asks. I'm assuming this is Okatsu, the one Yuri occasionally talked about. Okatsu gives a look of worry at our state altogether, but she stops being so defensive. The other girl grabs her hand and the two share a look. I get a little uncomfortable and look away, only to realize Sayori is awake, and in a lot of pain. "Okatsu Sayori needs medical attention. You know more about it then any of us. Please. Help us." The desperation is evident in my words. I gently put Sayori down on the couch.
Okatsu quickly comes over and starts taking Sayori's pulse, temperature, and tries checking her blood pressure with some supplies she has on her. She looks very concerned, and I don't want to be pushy but I want to know what's going on with her. "I think it's internal bleeding, honestly. But how could she have suffered that much physical trauma?" Okatsu looks horrified. I hiss out a breath, trying to calmly assess the situation. "What does that mean? How do we stop the bleeding? Is she going to be okay??" I'm raising my voice a bit. I'm really stressed out. In fact I think I'm going into a panic attack, so I try some breathing exercises. Natsuki reaches over and squeezes my hand gently, pulling me back to reality. Okatsu nods, more to herself then anyone. "We might have to do a minor surgery, but I'm also going to have to get x-rays. The nearest hospital is like a two minute drive. Can she hold out until then?" Okatsu is very disturbed by the thought that she can't help Sayori when she needs it. We all rush out into the car and buckle our seatbelts. Sayori is laid down in the third row of seats, and buckled twice. I reach back and grab her hand, and every now and then she'll squeeze. But only for a moment. I'm scared.
Yeah. This chapter took forever. I've just had a really hard time recently dealing with a lot of mental and physical health problems, but I hope my readers haven't lost interest. I should have done this sooner. I love you guys. Peace out -Xan
