After a long walk, you arrive back at Sayori's house. You use your spare key and walk inside. Sayori is no longer napping in the living room, but you can hear the sink on and the clinking of glass and metal. You can also hear some music playing. You walk into the kitchen and she's washing dishes, to lost in the music she's playing to hear you.
You walk up behind her and tap her on the shoulder. She jumps backwards and screeches, and you fall into a heap on the ground laughing so hard there are tears in your eyes. She glares down at you and then begins giggling at the sight of you rolling around on the floor and clutching your sides. She helps you up, and smacks you gently on the arm. "Don't do that next time, y/n ... Waking up without you here was scary enough. Where were you anyways?" She asks impatiently. "Do you really wanna know?" You ask, avoiding looking her in the eyes. "Well duh, why else would I ask?" She mutters. "I was training...." You trail of and she looks a little surprised. "Why were you guys training without me? What the heck?" She asks frustrated.
"Sayori.... Are you really sure you want to be a part of this war?" You ask nervously.
"Do you think you have any right to question me? This is my world. This is to protect my friends and family. If a war comes, so be it. I've been training for this for the past year and I'm not letting anyone stop me." She says, clearly very agitated. You frown, and decide to go out back. You sit under one of her trees and instantly lose yourself in thought.
This was infuriating. You didn't want Sayori getting in harm's way anytime soon. Although there had been many "love interests" before you, you hardly knew Sayori as a person, and she hardly knew you. Maybe it was foolish to have thought you would ever end up with her. You lay in the grass and consider what you could do. You decide you'll ask to train with Sayori.
She quickly agreed when you asked, and you both walked outside. She looks at you calmly. "I am an expert when it comes to healing wounds. I can also sword fight naturally well. When it comes to physical damage, I can resist the pain and continue fighting, and my body naturally heals itself at a moderately fast speed. Be warned, because I won't be holding anything back." She looks at you with no expression on her face. "You must not see your opponent as someone you know, but an enemy. A threat." She calmly tells you. You focus on that, and prepare yourself.
When you're ready, she attacks. She punches you in your stomach, and tries to punch your face. The same thing that happened earlier happens again. You feel pure power coursing through your body. You strike, and she looks shocked. You hit her in the shoulder, and then her face. You kick her in the stomach, and she recoils. You keep fighting and eventually she is thrown back again by an unknown force. When you approach her, she isn't concious, but she quickly comes to. She sits straight up at you extremely frustrated. "How did you do that? Why did it actually hurt?" She winces and pulls herself up. "I don't know.... Maybe we could sword fight instead? You said you can heal people, so it doesn't matter if your hurt me." You mumble. "Sure." She says, clearly still frustrated. She walks off and goes inside. She comes back and hands you a sword and grabs one for herself from inside. You unsheath it, and it glints in the fading sunlight. She manages to unsheath hers with much more confidence, and looks at you calmly again. "Let's do this." She says, yet again no emotions showing on her face. Her body language indicates that she's ready, so you get into a similar stance.
She thrusts her sword forwards, and you parry. She strikes for your leg, but you block it and slice her arm. She winces, but it starts to heal. You swing your sword forwards and aim for her leg.
She barely manages to parry, and you get another slice on her arm. She looks increasingly frustrated. "No more going easy." She says coldly. It almost sound like it isn't her voice.
She cuts forwards and manages to knick your arm and then manages a hard stab on your left side. You collapse to the ground, and she puts her sword to your neck. You nod, but she doesn't move. "Sayori." You say as calmly as possible. She looks you in the eyes, but it's almost as if she doesn't see you. Her eyes begin flickering green, and you panic.
You grab her arm and twist it, and she drops the sword. She drops to the ground on her knees, and you can see Monika is still trying to control her body. You reach forward and grasp her hands. Your hands have your blood on it, and she gradually realises and snaps out of it. She grabs onto your wound and you inhale sharply.
Suddenly the pain dulls and you feel the skin healing. "I... Didn't mean to hurt you so badly. I... I don't know what just came over me. I got... So... Angry." She looks upset with herself. She doesn't look you in the eyes the whole time, simply telling you to go wash yourself up. The sun is setting and she needs to prepare dinner. She won't talk about your training.
You decide to go wash yourself up, and when you get out, she has dinner on the table, but there's only one plate. You get dressed and decide to eat outside, which is where you find Sayori. She looks at you, and you realise she really didn't mean to hurt you. You can see the tear streaks down her face, but she still has a far away look in her eyes.
You finish your dinner in silence, and go upstairs together. You lay down in bed but this time, you both lay away from each other. Every now and then you feel her shudder, but you know it's her sobbing, not shivering.
I know this chapter was quite sad but trust me... This will matter later. I love you guys, thank you for your support. -Xan
