After a slight bit of training all of the girls urge me to get as much sleep as possible. I'm still beyond exhausted but I feel like sleep would be hard to obtain. I lay down and toss and turn, laying in a cold sweat wishing that it didn't have to come to this. Something, or rather someone plops onto the bed behind my back. Sayori's familiar scent immediately calms my nerves, and I reach for her warm presence on the bed. She lays her head on my chest and I pull her close, wrapping her up in my arms. She presses soft kisses on my face and gently grabs my chin, turning my mouth towards hers. Her lips urgently crash against mine and I quickly kiss back, barely stopping to breath. Her soft lips move against mine and in this moment I know I would do anything to keep her safe. I don't want to let her fight someone who might be too powerful even for me. I softly pull away, feeling tears trickling down her face. She grabs me and kisses me even rougher, the tears pouring now. It's like us against the world, and I want to protect her from all these things. She finally rests her head back on my chest, sobs wracking her body. I pull her close and whisper sweet nothings to her as I kiss her forehead softly. She slowly starts to breath normally and clings to me.

"Don't leave me... please," she whispers hoarsely "I need you."

"I wouldn't ever leave you. I love you Sayori."

We fall into silence, and hold each other close.

When I wake, the birds aren't chirping. The sky is cloudy and the sun doesn't shed any warmth into the room. I shiver, slowly getting clothed into something comfortable. I take one more look at the room and head down the stairs to find everyone in the living room packing weapons and  discussing strategies. I calmly step down and everyone looks over towards me, going quiet. The wind outside picks up and it feels as though the whole world is shaking around me. It only lasts for a moment but the girls stare at me in horror.

"W-what... just happened?" I ask confused.

"Your eyes... they just started flickering and turning green." Sayori says, shuddering with fear.

"Damnit! He shouldn't be able to get my protective barriers! I'm not mentally weak, I don't understand how he could even possibly get into your head." Monika states angrily.

Everything is quiet. Yuri and Okatsu hand me pieces of armor and help me slip them on. Everybody is wearing some form of armor but I think it's more out of hope and desperation than actual hope of it protecting us. We hurry about gathering whatever we can carry for food and healing supplies. Okatsu has agreed to wait here with as many medical supplies as we could get our hands on to be prepared for whatever remains of us to return. The silence is grim. Who knows if we'll all be in this room together, all of us, ever again? Who could we lose? Monika, and her surprisingly sweet humor? Yuri, the shy but very wise firecracker? Natsuki, the dorkiest chef and manga lover ever? Sayori... my one true love. I can't lose her. I'll die before I see her hurt again. We slowly circle around and I firmly grasp Sayori and Natsuki's hands. I don't give any warning. I channel my powers and the heat is back. My throat goes dry but I don't panic this time, focusing on breathing. Sudenly, I'm collapsing and gagging in the middle of what appears to be the ruins of a magnificent palace. Nothing comes up, and I'm relieved. The little food I've eaten needs to keep me strong. I feel arms stabilizing me and I reach for my sword, readying myself. My eyes open, and meet a pair of emerald eyes. Not Monika's.

His.

I'm ready.
