school. the one thing i dreaded going to. today was our first day back. i'm a senior now and jieun's in eighth grade. dad had us stand outside and hold up chalk boards with what grade we're in.

"dad." i groan. "c'mon jae eun just smile for me." he coos as i roll my eyes and smile, my eyes closing to slits.

he takes a picture and hands me the keys to the car before leaving. hyejin's car. my car. i got my license over the summer but i'm so terrified of driving anywhere.

"c'mon let's go." i say to jieun. "one sec." she says before running in the house. i roll my eyes and jieun comes out with a helmet.

"really?" i asked, putting a hand on my hip. you've gotta be kidding me. i'm not even that bad of a driver. "hey its best to be safe." jieun says before getting in the car.

i walk in the school and i immediately don't want to be here. there were people crowding their lockers, freshmen trying to open their lockers, seniors kissing their boyfriends or girlfriends. i see seokjin opening his locker and smiled at him.

as i do this, i accidentally walked back into a person and they pushed me off. "shit!" a girl said and i stumbled away.

"sorry!" i say as a girl crosses her arms and scowls at me. "minah." i say, biting my lip. "jae eun." she says and i nearly flinch at her tone. but i don't.

"i would've thought you've changed over the summer but really you didn't. you're still the same, clumsy, jae eun." minah says snarkily. kim minah, my ex best friend since middle school.

i wanted to punch her but it was the first day of school and i did not want to get suspended. "what's with your outfit combo too? high socks with vans? are you in seventh grade or something?" i look down at my checkered vans.

"hate to break it to you cuzzo but vans are pretty in style these days." kang seulgi, my best friend and minah's cousin. "although those timberlands are looking a little construction worker. you gonna go build a building?" seulgi said, slinging her arm around my shoulder as minah rolled her eyes at us. "whatever." she says. a boy comes up from behind her and wraps his arms arm around her.

seventh grade. my first ever boy/girl party where we played spin the bottle. minah was my best friend at the time.

park jimin was there too and everyone knew that jimin wanted to kiss minah. but when i spun the bottle and it landed on jimin, everyone just freezed.

"i won't kiss him if you don't want me to." i told minah, playing with my fingers in my lap. "you can't cheat the bottle." jimin had said, biting his lip.

"jae eun!" minah hissed at me. her eyes were narrowed in a way that would scare me. i remember i was stuttering so much that my braces got caught on my lips a few times.

jimin was nearing me and my face was so red it could beat the red sneakers i was wearing. i looked over at minah and could see that she was upset.

i looked back in front of me at jimin and i closed my eyes shut as he pecked my lips quickly. i remember feeling dizzy and loopy that night. my first kiss. this was that jimin. minah's jimin.

"hi." he says with a smile. i awkwardly smile back at the two. minah smirks at me. of course she still remembers. "hi jimin." she says in a sickly sweet tone.

she kissed his cheek and staring at me like jimin was some prize. i rolled my eyes. "c'mon babe let's go see what classes we got." minah says and tugs jimin along with her.

seulgi stands in front of me once they're out of earshot. "do you really think they're cool?" i say looking down and my shoes and socks. "its not cool when you ask if its cool!" seulgi says with a laugh. "just be cool." i nod.
