Chapter 13

(surprise)

It's the weekend. The last two days have been somewhat crazy. To my parents, Nick and I are dating, to me we are just friends. Jerry has been getting my attention. He has asked me out on another date today.

My mom thinking I am want to be pretty for Nick, takes me shopping. Well, she is shopping, I am just like a mannequin to her. I don't mind though, most of the clothes are comfortable so I don't complain.

"Okay, that will be $1259 miss," the cashier says. Mom pays and we get Judith to help with the many bags. We are walkin to the parking lot when I see Jerry walking to his car. I don't think about it and yell his name. I wave to him and he quickly waves back.

"Hey!" he smiles. He jogs towards me and hugs me. I see he has his work uniform on and he smells funny.

"Who is this?" mom asks. I let go and turn to her. "Umm, this is Jerry."

"Hi Mrs. Parker, I seen you in the news," Jerry offers his hand, "I am Gerardo."

"Well thank you for being a news follower," Mom smiles and shakes his hand. "So how did you meet a garbage man?"

"Mom, he isn't a garbage man," I say.

"I would like to be called a custodian/mechanic," Jerry says.

"Oh," Mom isn't impressed, "well let's go Valerie."

"Bye Jerry," I smile.

"See you tonight bonita," he whispers.

I nod. Gosh, now i am nervous.

Mom tells me how to accesoried and do my make up. I tell her I am okay, and tell her I need to get ready to go out with friends.

"Oh my! You have friends now? Good, see sweetie, I knew that you can do it," Mom chuckles and leaves giggling to her room.

I decide to put on a cute blue long sleeve dress. It is short so I put on black leggings and low heels. I put my hair in a bun and put on mascara and pink lipstick. I don't look bad at all. I get a brown coat and wait till jerry texts me.

Soon I am outside waiting for Jerry to arrive. He comes and we head to our date. He made reservations to this fancy restaurant. I notice he is wearing a simple, fitted black suit. He looks handsome like a Spanish model.

"What?" he chuckles as he is looking at the menu.

"Nothing," I blush. I look at the menu and decide to order a chicken salad with a delicious spinach soup.

Jerry tells the waiter what we would have and asks to bring a lemonade for me and a sparkly water with lime for him.

"Thanks for taking me here," I say.

"I should be the one grateful," he says, "Thanks for saying yes to me."

I smile, "So how is work?"

"Good, I think I'm going to back to college," he says. The waiter comes in with our drinks. I sip on my lemondade.

"That's awesome," I say, "so work part time and go to college?"

"Maybe," he smiles, "I want to be a better person."

"You are great person Jerry,"

"By the way," he touches my hand, "you look so pretty tonight bonita. You glow even more."

What? Me? Heh.. I feel so hot in my cheeks. I am totally blushing now.

He chuckles, "You are so cute."
