Chapter 10: Happy Birthday

**Lapis's POV**

Today was a very silent day. Peridot was out with the group, while I was sitting on my ass all day, drawing and painting. However, I was having an art block, so I was browsing through Tumblr for pictures that I liked and could make for hours. I had my ear-buds in, listening to Twenty One Pilots, tapping my foot to the beat. I must've had the volume all the way up, because I felt a hand on my shoulder in the middle of drawing, which scared the light out of me and I threw my pencils, paints and brushes everywhere, making a huge mess, and even getting paint in my hair. I took my earbuds out and turned to see Peridot on the floor holding her stomach, laughing.
"Dammit, Peridot!" I scolded her, picking up the mess. She began wiping her tears of laughter away and got up off the floor.
"heh.. Sorry, Lappy. I didn't mean to spook you." She apologized, helping me with gathering the scattered art supplies. Fortunately, no paint got on the carpet.
"so what were you guys doing for all that time?"
"oh.. U-um.."
**Peridot's POV**
Crap! I cant tell her I was looking for a birthday present! Hmm..
"oh we just hung out. Nothing too crazy happened.."
I was decent at lying. As long as the tone was perfect, and I didn't stutter, I would be fine.
"ah. Sounds better than doing art all day." she said flatly, organizing her art supplies on her desk.
"meh.. Could've been better."
She ruffled her hair and I noticed paint got in her hair.
"Lapis, you've a got a little-"
"-paint in my hair? Yeah I know."
She gave me a glare, and I just smiled nervously.
"well, im gonna go take a shower and fix.. This." she added, pointing to herself. She walked off to the bathroom and closed the door. I got onto my phone to text Amethyst.
Me: hey Ame. Do you have everything set up?
Amethyst: ya i do.
Me: presents?
Amethyst: check
Me: balloons?
Amethyst: check.
Me: everything else?
Amethyst: check, check, check.
Me: okay good. Make sure everything is perfect!
Amethyst: aye-aye miss perfect-pants.
I growled at her remark. I was about to text back when I heard Lapis scream.
"AHH!"
I ran to the bathroom door.
"what is it? Are you okay!?"
"the water just got FREEZING cold!" she said, as I heard the shower curtain open and the water stop.
I held back a laugh.
"it couldn't have been THAT cold." i said with little snickers in bewteen words.
"it turned into the freaking north pole, Peridot!"
I laughed quietly to myself.
"okay drama-queen."
I heard a grumble from behind the door.
"do you want me to get you some clothes?"
"yeah."
I walked to her dresser and rummaged through her clothes until I found a plain navy blue t-shirt with some black leggings.
The bathroom door opened and Lapis walked towards me with only a towel on. I blushed and gave her her clothes. She seemed to notice my flushed face and she snickered.
"come on, Peri, im just in a towel. Not like im gonna show anything."
I blushed a little more. She went to the bathroom again to dress and five minutes later she came out. I then remembered her birthday, and we needed to get going.
"hey, lets go somewhere Lapis."
"where?"
"somewhere fancy for your birthday."
"aww Peri you dony have to take me anywhere for my birthday..- not that im complaining."
We both giggled and I took her hand.
We walked out the door and headed out of the building to my car.
"mind if I ask where we're going?"
"River Grille Steakhouse."
"never been there."
"well you're in for a treat." I smirked at her, getting into the drivers seat as she gets into the passenger's.

-time skip to the restaurant-

I pulled up in an empty parking space which was right in front of the door. We opened our doors and stepped out in sync and Lapis was examining the large building. I took her hand once again and we walked in together, hand-in-hand.
Immediately, someone came out of nowhere and asked us "how many?"
Damn waitresses..
"2." I said.
"table or booth?"
"booth."
She seemed te notice we were holding hands, and she lead us to quite a private room. We both sat down as the lady gave us our menu's.
"have a nice day here, love-birds." she said, winking.
I shivered at that, but Lapis just laughed and thanked her.
