**Peridot's POV**

Today was the day. I was gonna propose to Lapis. I was so nervous... What if she says no? What if she hates me after this? Okay... I need to calm down.

I walked into the jewelry store, and looked around for a ring, sweating up a storm. People who worked there tried asking me if I needed help, but I knew i'd find the right one. They also gave me weird looks.. Like I had two heads.. I ignored it though.

I thought, since Lapis's first and last name happen to be a gemstone, i'd get her a lapis lazuli ring.

I continued my search for the perfect ring. I got so caught up in looking that I nearly fell when I heard my phone ringing. People looked at me weirdly once again, but I didn't care. I checked my phone, and it was Lapis who was calling.

I answered nervously, trying to sound normal.

"hey, Lapis." I spoke, shakily holding the phone up to my ear.

"Peridot, where are you? You said you'd be home 20 minutes ago!"

I looked at the time and face palmed. I got so deep into thought about what ring to pick that I couldn't keep track of time!

"Im sorry, Lappy.. I didn't know what I was doing would take so long."

"well, what is it you're doing?"

I started to freak out.

Okay, Peridot... calm down. Make up a lie..

"job hunting."

"you're tired of making robonoids, huh?"

"uh..*ahem* uhuh."

"hmm.. alright then. I don't wanna ruin your chances by keeping you on the phone. Love you, Peri."

"Love you too, Laz."

She hung up and I gave a sharp sigh of relief. I put my phone in my pocket and went on with my search.

I was looking at quite a big variety of rings, when one stood out to me. It was a lapis lazuli gem shaped into a heart, bordered with tiny peridot gems. It kind of looked like that necklace I gave to Lapis for her 20th birthday.. Maybe it was made by the same person.

I looked at the price, and it read $999 dollars.

A bit pricey, but cheaper than most of the rings.

I called someone over to show them the ring I wanted. They took the ring, and gently placed it in a small black box. They put it in a little bag, and handed it to me as I payed.

This was when I started to get really anxious.. I brushed off the negative thoughts, and exited the store to my car.

As I was doing so, a man in a car next to me was staring at me. He was wearing a plain black shirt, and was bald, but that's all I could see. The man almost looked familiar... But I ignored it.

What I couldn't ignore was the fact that he was staring at me the whole time I was driving until I couldn't see him. I was relieved the second his face disappeared from my rear view mirror.
