LUNA
'What is that fucker doing? Pushing me off the track. It's just practice!' I yell angry into the radio. As I drive over the blue lines.
'Yeah we saw.' Stupid pink car. I don't even know who it is, but I don't care. He's a fucker. We're only 15 minutes in. But forget about it. Glad it's practice and not qualifying.'At the end of sector 1 it's getting wet. How much more rain is coming?' My grip isn't as good as it was on dry.
'Not much. But it's moving quick and it's gonna cover the whole track.' I can't wait! I don't wanna crash my car, not now. But if it's going to rain with qualifying it's gonna be fun and interesting. With not too much pace I drive through the poring rain on the straight. 'This track isn't drive able in this conditions, there should be a red flag. I can't see nothing, there is no grip. It's really bad.' I still have the whole track to go before I'm at the pit.
'Okay, come box. Be careful.'
'You said it wasn't going to be that bad right,' I chuckle.
'These clouds weren't showing before.' I smile. As carefully as possible I drive over the track. I doesn't have to rain this hard! Just before the chicane I finally see the red flag. Poor fans out there. They must be soaking, just like my suit. With the two blond Dutch man we leave the energy station. 'Did you came here by car too?' The youngest asks. I shake my head.
'Came by helicopter, unlike you two I wasn't stuck in the traffic jam.' The road to the track still isn't the best. The two young man just arrived about an hour ago. They have been here all weekend, but only met them today after two years. They are my old class mates, Max and Peter.
'Good you did, cause you would have missed your practice.' I agree with Max. I probably would've. Not that there was allot to miss. I'm showing the boy around a little. The rain stopped not long ago. Pain in both sides of my hips. I gasp. Quickly I turn around. I point my middle finger at Daniel in his yellow t shirt. Yellow still looks so damn good on him, makes him look even tanner. He gives a quick thumb with a smile. Smiling I shake my head.
'This Daniel,' I introduce him even though they both know. They both introduce themselves with a hand. 'I did not know you could speak English, you always let Max do the job,' I say to the youngest one. He smiles.
'What can I say, I'm a pro now.' Smiling I shake my head and look at Max. Who's shaking his head too.
'I'm gonna get ready to kick this girls ass.' Daniel walks away.
'If he didn't changed teams you wouldn't be here right now.'
'Wow, hey, thanks for believing in me.' I raise my thumb at Peter. But he's speaking the truth. There was a change Brandon was leaving too, but Daniel is the start of all of the changes, that there were two free places at Toro Rosso. I haven't even thought about it that way. I should thank him for that. I'll do that later.I heart the favorite picture of the boys and me that we made at diner, in my camera roll. Open Instagram, choose the photo I just favorited and a photo of my car on track. "P12 tomorrow! If it kept (softly) raining I could've done better, but this was all we got. Thanks Ken and Max for coming this weekend. Tonight was fun! Fun fact, Ken isn't his real name he used to look at himself in every reflection, that's how he got that nickname. Another fun fact, I used to have a big crush on the other handsome man, told him that tonight. Don't know how he has never noticed anything..." Everybody always had a crush on Peter but when his best friend changed schools I was sold. Never worked out though. I used to get so nervous around him. It's so funny thinking back. When I was 15 I went on a vacation to my father, as we did every year and there I fell in love with my youth friend, who I haven't seen for ages. With allot of pain in my heart I broke up with him after 3 years because I was so busy with making a career, I didn't spend much time with him anymore, he didn't deserved that so I broke up. I place my phone on my night stand and turn around in bed. Trying to fall asleep.
My back tires loose grip as I go through the bendor corner. Shit. I need to get that 12th place. Drifting through the corner I try to keep my car on the track. And there go my tires. But I manage to keep the car on track. My exit is the worse. But come here Antonio. Come to mama. I want that position. And I'm going to get it. 'Nice save. How do the tires feel?'
'Surprisingly good.' My grips hasn't changed much, it just feel like they are a couple rounds older.
'You can get him.' I know. I smile. I don't wanna sound too confident over the radio so I say nothing. I try to talk myself confidence in, it works.'Next up is Perez. For the 11th position.' Already? I just overtook Giovinazzi four corners ago. I thought Perez was way ahead. The chicane is coming up. And he isn't that far away, he's on the right side of me. In corner 4.
'Why isn't eleventh called onety one or one-teen?' I ask out loud. And I mean that serious. It's with the other numbers. But focus G, get that position.
'I don't know, focus please.' Definitely not the right moment for him.
'Yep.' I brake late as I possibly can when I enter the chicane, I almost braked too early. All those lines. I manage to come closer to Perez. But I don't manage to overtake him in the chicane. Arr. I follow him in the straight but strike my pose the Bendor corner again. Taking the outside, risky but we'll see. I cut him off, nothing too bad. Still a little nice. My exit in corner 12 is good.
'Well done. Keep pushing.'
