"If you don't respond to every comment people make on your stuff, then you're a bad person and you don't actually care about your readers."

^^these are two of the biggest complaints I see people make on this site. And I don't really agree with either of them?

So, for the first one, maybe it's because I my most popular book (and my second most popular book, which I'm saying is my second most coz I have no official chapters up but I do have 500+ reads on it) are both Starker fics and I can understand if people don't want people to know they ship them? But I just love seeing the reads go up. Sure, is it nice to get comments/votes? Yes. Is it necessary? Nah. I still get excited every time It's Not Right, But It's Okay goes up 1K reads. The more annoying thing is when someone just appears randomly in the middle of a book, corrects one of the few grammar/spelling errors and then disappears again.

And for the second one? Look, as a lot of you guys are prolly aware of, I respond to a lot of comments. Sometimes I respond with a simple "lmao" but I'm not gonna respond to something that's hard to respond to. Like, back when I started my first random book, i did these weird questions of the days thingies tho Idk why. That's what most people comment on in that book. Or I'll see someone just vote for the first couple chapters and then never again? But anyways, I'm not gonna respond to every one of those comments. That's annoying. If you're gonna sit there and list out your favorite musical artists, cool. What am I supposed to say when I have my musical bubble I live and don't breach very often coz I don't care for a lot of newer artists and I'll stick to the ones I know I love. And what am I supposed to say when someone just comments their Hogwarts house? Am I supposed to be all "oh, cool"?

And like, with bigger accounts who get hundreds, if not more, of comments every single day on their books, do you think they don't have better things to do with their lives than respond to every comment they receive on their books? It doesn't mean they're a bad person. It just means they have better things to do than reply to every comment that says "awwwww" "lol" "me" and every thing else.
