TORI

Today is the first day at a new high school and luckily, this is my last year.  I'm not a fan of school but especially in this particular one. It's populated by all wolves, who I hate and at the same time am fearful of after I've seen what they are capable of doing, in particular, to my kind.

I was sent to my Aunt's house when I was eight years old, right after my parents both died in a fire.....that I had caused. My powers have been strong since the day I was born.

I had began my training on spells and how to control my powers among other things since the moment I could walk and talk.  Then one day, we found out just how strong and VERY dangerous one of my powers were.

I was upset with my parents over something, I can't remember. However, after being sent to my room then locking myself in there and sitting in the corner next to my bed, I quickly began feeling more and more rage build up deep inside of me.  While trying to control it, it just got worse. I was scared of what might happen so I pulled my knees to my chest and placed my face on top of them as I started to cry.

I had never felt that much anger. Then the next thing I heard were both my parents screaming my name out loud trying to get my attention.

At first I thought I was dreaming as I looked up to see them both trying to make their way through the flames that seemed to have manifested and engulfed my entire bedroom surrounding me.

That's when I realized that one of my abilities was that I could make things happen if I thought about it in my mind.

I'm not even sure in why or how I even thought about it but all I remember was being picked up in my dad's arms as him and my mom tried running down the stairs to get out of the house.

However, as soon as my father put me down onto the grass out front, both of us still coughing, we looked around for my mother and we couldn't find her.

My dad then told me to wait right where I was and that he was going back inside to get her.

I sat there still coughing through the sobs while staring at the front door that revealed flames and black smoke as it was also breaking through all the windows and shattering glass everywhere while I continued to wait nervously for them both to come running back out, but that never happened.

The last thing I heard were both my parents' blood curdling screams as they perished in the blazing fire.

That day was the same day I made a promise to myself and to them, that I would never allow myself to become that angry again no matter what.

I mean, sure, I still use magic, it's in my blood after all. However, despite the many bad names or insults that people give me, I will NEVER fight back with magic. I will never let my mind to ever allow such negativity to affect me.

She almost reminds me of Stockard Channing's character in one of my favorite movies of all time, 'Practical Magic'. She looks a little like her with her hair and the way she dresses and her spirit. She has always been a fun and funny person and up until a few months ago, I was home schooled. Mostly because I was bullied from fourth grade up until eighth grade after my so called 'friends' thought that they would be considered cool if they chimed in with everyone else by poking fun of my weight and also teasing me about my parents' death. For the longest time, I was considered the Witch who killed her parents. So people feared me and even accused me of becoming a witch that practiced Dark Magic. So I did what I felt was best, to shut myself out from both of the worlds (human and mine).

I didn't want to go to school, especially after finding out it was populated by nothing but werewolves.

Sure my school back home had werewolves and every other mythical creature there too. However, wolves have a tendency to have more anger issues and more cockiness than anyone else that was more annoying than anything. In fact, they were just as bad when they found their mates, I mean, talk about over protective and claiming one another like their each other's property or just another item they owned. Not to mention, unless we HAD to, we were each other's biggest enemies.

I had no choice really in this matter. Since it was my Senior year of high school, my aunt wanted me to enjoy the last year of my whole school life, the "right" way. Or at least that's what she said. So really, I am doing this for her.

I was meant to start school tomorrow and was now on my way to my aunt's best friend, Redd's house. He owns a steakhouse restaurant that is popular where he lives and whose customers consists of being made up mostly of wolves. Not to mention he's a werewolf himself and the Alpha of the Crescent Pack.

It wasn't until a few days ago that my aunt told me she couldn't come with me and that was why I needed to go stay with her best friend, Redd cause she had to take care of some things, mostly because she was head of the Witch Council.

After the plane landed, I took a cab towards the restaurant to meet him and to be honest had felt a little nervous. Not just for the fact that school started tomorrow but also because I felt a little worried about being spotted and someone finding out right away that I was a witch and then having that kind of teasing nightmare begin.

As soon as the cab pulled up in front of the restaurant, I was real excited deep down inside, seeing as to how inviting it looked from the outside and the homelike vibe you got.

It looked like I got here at the wrong time as I noticed the place looked to be packed.

I have always been amused at humans in how they live and how they age and are completely different from the rest of my kind and others.

I noticed as I walked towards the back of the building, with my backpack, messenger bag and suitcase with me, the many wolves that were eating there also. You could always spot a wolf by the way they acted and especially all the males.

Once I made it to the back of the restaurant, I opened up the back door and set my bags down by the door before heading towards the kitchen, looking for Redd.

My aunt sent me a text message that had his picture attached to it so that I knew what he looked like. To me, he looked a lot like Gerard Butler only a little bit older and more like a biker guy.

I quickly spotted him talking with who looked to be the head chef of his restaurant when he stopped as soon as he saw me and right away smiled.

I returned a smile to him as he began walking up to me and held out his hand to introduce himself.

"Hi. You must be Tori." He says.

"And you must be Redd." I replied while shaking his hand.

"It's very nice to meet you. Your aunt told me a lot about you." He says.

"She did the same about you." I said.

"Well, hopefully all good things." He winks with a smile at me.

"Of course." I smile.

"Well, let me show you where you'll be staying." He says as we begin heading out the back door and him grabbing my bags for me.

"I really do appreciate you letting me stay in your house." I tell him as we walk over to his truck and we get in and start heading to his house.

"No problem and actually, I thought you'd want your privacy in being an eighteen year old female. So you'll be staying out in the guest house that's behind the main. You are more than welcome to stay in the main if you'd like, but I didn't want you to feel uncomfortable seeing as to how a lot of my pack members and my nephew and his pack all stay there most of the time. In fact, he's your age and is going to the same school also. Unfortunately though, he isn't here tonight for me to introduce you both. Hopefully though you guys will meet up at the school or just wait until I can introduce you both tomorrow." He tells me as we now pull into the driveway to his house.

Okay so just like the other one I did as a sneek peek too, this will be posted in the next couple of weeks or so, or as soon as the other two stories I'm gonna finish are done with. So look out for this one too when it comes out and I hope you all like it. Also, keep in mind, I only posted this long of a chapter because I wanted to give you all a good amount of a sneek peek.
