Tonight my Pack and I were doing our run around the perimeter as we did every night. Tomorrow was the first day of school and after pleading for my uncle to let me finish school doing it online, he instead has forced me to finish my Senior year in an actual school.

To everyone here in town where the majority of the population is made up of wolves, some humans and a couple of other mythical creatures, if you will.

I was known as one of the best, well respected and feared Alpha's who was ruthless and could care less of what people thought or expected of me. I was my own wolf and I was gonna be the best Alpha there was. Well, other than my uncle that I have looked up to all my life as having that same reputation ever since he became an Alpha.

My parents had dropped me off at my uncle's when I was two years old and he has raised me ever since. I never knew much about my parents and my uncle Redd, even though he was my mother's brother, never told me much about her. I thought it was weird at first until I realized later on that it really didn't matter. They abandoned me and left me here to go and live their life. So throughout the years I told myself that I didn't need them. I didn't really need anybody. Although I am very grateful for my uncle, I didn't wan't to be another sap story that people had sympathy for.

Uncle Redd has always been more than my uncle and a father figure, he's also been like a really cool friend and has taught me so much in how to become a great and very strong Alpha to lead a strong Pack one day. Even though I feel that way right now already, everyone knows not to mess with me.

I have a best friend, Reece, that also is Beta of the Pack (second in Command). We have been best friend's since the second grade and he has always had my back as I have his. He also has helped me with my Pack in the training process and who recently has found his mate.

I never believed in that whole 'finding your mate' thing. Not that I am trying to disapprove of anything the Moon Goddess has to say about our fate and destinies. It's just that, I prefer to be alone. On my own terms. Not be tied down with just ONE person that supposedly will help make my Pack stronger as well as me.

The truth is that my Pack is one of the strongest already and is getting stronger every day because of ME.

So, do I need a Luna? Nah, I'm good.

********************************************

When I woke up this morning, I looked over and saw the girl I normally hook up with that swears we're mates, Pamela. She's a Senior as well and I have known her ever since I saved her life when we were thirteen one night when some rogue tried to kill her.

Then eventually, we became more like friends-with-benefits. Although we did try dating at first after we lost our virginity to each other but soon discovered afterwards, we weren't good together. Besides, at the time, she had felt the same way about the whole mate thing and decided we would just have fun with each other.

It wasn't until last year that she had started believing in the mating thing, or so she claims. Honestly, I think she is just wanting to be with me cause she knows I'm the best Alpha and the strongest one and wants the attention she'd get. However, that's not how it works and besides, I'm not interested in her.

After taking a shower, styling my hair, then putting on my black jeans and fitted black t-shirt, along with my motorcycle jacket, I grab the keys to my black new Ninja motorcycle and started to head out when I was stopped halfway by my uncle.

"Off to school?" He asks behind me.

"Yeah. Meeting up with Reece." I tell him after taking a bite out of the green apple I had picked up from the counter before opening up the front door to leave.

"Well, I was hoping you could wait and possibly meet Tori. The girl I told you was staying here with us for a while." He tells me as he sips coffee.

"Yeah, well, sorry. No can do Uncle Redd. I need to meet up with the guys. I'll meet her later." I tell him as I take a bite from the apple and head out the door.

When I arrived at school, I pulled up next to Reece and the other several guys from the pack who came here.

I saw Pamela as she was laughing most likely at something stupid that one of her dumb slutty friends just told her as she's standing in front of my locker.

I just rolled my eyes in annoyance as I know she's gonna bitch at me for not returning any of her calls or texts for the past couple of weeks of Summer.

When I walked up to her, she turned and smiled before throwing her arms around me and forcefully slamming her lips onto mine.

"You have been a bad Alpha." She says to me seductively. "Why haven't you returned any of my texts or calls?" She asks me.

"I was busy, you know that." I glare at her.

"Well, still, you should have at least messaged me back to even just say 'hi' or something." She says.

I continued to ignore her as I shut my locker door and she follows me and my friends to our first class.

As soon as we walked into the room, I instantly smelled something amazing in the air. It smelled like honeydew melon, only sweeter.

Then while walking to the back of the class as Pamela stops and talks with her friends, my friends and I head to our usual seats and notice someone in the far corner.

Who is that? I thought to myself. Then I mind-linked with Reece to ask him and he said that he had never seen her before.

It was right as soon as he said that to me when I had realized that must have been Tori, the girl who is supposed to be staying with us. Then to make matters worse, she was a witch, my uncle told me. Which was just what I needed, to be made fun of and then forced to be nice to her while showing her around like we were in middle school or something. That was NOT a job for an Alpha, so I'm not going to do it.

"Mate". My wolf says to me.
