An incredibly long 15 hours later, my plane finally lands. I step into the airport and look up at the sign that says, "Welcome to Australia!". I sigh and heads towards the exit.

I flag down a taxi and tell the driver the address of the apartment complex. My parents would be coming down in a few days with more of my things, as I had only brought the essentials with my on the plane ride here. He pulls right in front of the main building, I hand him some cash and start heading towards the door of the building. I walk in and a brown-haired, middle aged woman greets me. She looks nice.

"Hi! Are you a new resident?" she beams at me. I smile and say yes. I tell her my full name and nods. She smiles and hands me a key with a little 57 on it. I guess that's the room I'll be in.

I walk out of the main building and find my apartment building. I step in the elevator, go to floor 5 and walk down the hallway to find a door with a 57 on it. I unlock the door and step inside.

I have to admit, the apartment I found was beautiful. It was a one bedroom, two bath apartment with a balcony. The kitchen had a nice island and an antique wooden table. I already knew I'd be enjoying many of my meals there. Before anything else, I wanted to see my view from the balcony. I opened the sliding glass door and stepped outside. Damn. The view was absolutely gorgeous, I could see most of the town from it. The sun was starting to set so the building lights were starting to shine. It was so beautiful. In that moment, my stomach started to rumble so I decided getting some food would be a good idea. I search through Yelp and find a cute little diner just down the street. The diner was called 'Home' which I thought was the cutest thing ever. It didn't seem very popular based off of the very few reviews on Yelp. I didn't mind though, the name had caught my interest plenty. I call an uber and tell him where I wanted to go.

I step in the diner and immediately I knew this place would become a regular for me. It had a 60's vibe, very old school. It even had a jukebox. I lived for things like this, the 60's era was probably my favorite. I loved everything about this diner. It's neon lights and bright colors just made me feel happy. I sat at a table and and was greeted by a waitress.

"Hi, I'm Darby. I'll be taking care of you tonight. What would you like to drink?" she asked. I thought and went with my favorite, a Dr. Pepper.

"A Dr. Pepper please." I said to Darby. She smiled and kind of looked at me weird. I guess she took in my confused expression because she finally said something.

"Sorry for staring honey. Are you new around here? I've never seen you around before." Darby said, smiling down at me.

"Um yeah. I actually just moved into the apartment complex down the street." I smiled and nodded.

"Oh lovely! I guess I'll be seeing you quite often then." She said, smiling as she walked off to get my drink.

Darby came back with my drink and asked if I wanted to order, I told her fries would be great. She nodded and went to put my order in. I nearly choked on my drink as probably one of the most gorgeous human beings I had ever seen walked through the diner doors. He was tall, muscular and not to mention fine as hell.

"Calum! It's so nice to see you dearie!" I heard Darby yell from the back of the diner. He followed as Darby came by my table to give me my fries. Of course.

"It's nice to see you too Darby." The boy said, laughing at Darby's excitement.

"This is- uh, sorry dear I didn't catch your name." Darby said, looking at me.

"Oh, um, it's Jane." I said smiling up at her.

"Ah yes, this is Jane!" she said smiling to the boy. "She just moved into the apartment complex down the street." she smiled again. Darby seemed to be a very nice woman, she was always smiling and radiated a really nice energy. I liked her.

"It's very nice to meet you, Jane. I actually live in the same apartment complex, maybe I'll see you around sometime. I'm Calum by the way." the boy said, placing his hands in his back pockets and smiling at me with what seemed to be a genuine smile.

"Nice to meet you too, Calum." I said, softly smiling back at him.

"Calum, sweetie, would you like anything?" Darby said, turning to Calum.

"Uh, the usual please," He nodded. Darby walked away to go put in Calum's order. I assume he came here often if he had a usual. "Mind if I sit?" he asked, snapping me back into reality. I quickly nod and he slides into the seat across from me.

"So how long have you been here for?" he asked, looking directly into my eyes.

"I actually just moved in today." I said, looking down at the table and stirring my drink with my straw, starting feeling nervous about the stranger sitting across from me.

"Oh. Well, I could show you around the city sometime if you'd like." Calum said, smiling at me innocently. Calum? Wants to show me the city? I'd be dumb to say no.

"Sounds good." I said, returning a smile.

Darby then walks up to our table with a brown paper bag and hands it to Calum. She smiles at the two of us and walks back to the counter.

"Um, could I get your number?" Calum asks kind of awkwardly.

"Uh, yeah. Sure." I said, pulling my phone out of my back pocket and unlocking it for him. I hand it to him and watch him type in his number. He hands me my phone back and starts making his way to the door.

"Nice meeting you Jane. See you soon maybe?" Calum said before closing the diner door.

I look down at my phone, only to see that Calum put his name in my phone as 'Sexy Beast'. I giggle and quickly change it to 'Calum'. I walk up to the counter to pay for my drink and fries, say goodbye to Darby and call an uber home.

I get in the elevator and to my door quickly and search for my keys. I drop them as the door across from mine opens, only to see Calum standing in front of me.

"Oh. Um, hi." he says, picking up my keys and handing them to me. "Wasn't expecting you to be so close."

"Hi, oh thanks. Yeah, me either." I said, trying not to make this situation any more awkward.

Calum clears his throat and says, "Well, good night, neighbor."

"Good night Calum." I said as I unlocked my door. I stepped inside my apartment and sighed. This was going to be fun.
