I wake up from my hour long nap and I'm starving. I change into some jean shorts and Calum's black jumper, then slip on some vans and head to the diner.

This diner was something I really loved, I had been here a few times since I had moved to Australia. This is where I first met Calum, so it was pretty special to me.

I take a seat and Darby takes my usual: a Dr. Pepper and an order of fries. I sit and scroll through Instagram while I wait for my food. Darby soon comes back with my food and drink and I dig in.

Home was a place I knew I'd grow fond of. As soon as I stepped into this diner, I knew it'd be my new favorite place. Darby was so nice and kind and the diners look was from my favorite era- the 60s. This place felt like another home to me, which was fitting considering Home was the diners name. It had a special spot in my heart that I never knew a place as simple as a diner could occupy.

There was just something about Home that that made me feel welcome. Maybe it was because of Darby's bubbly personality, maybe it was because of the great homemade food. Maybe it was the aesthetic, or maybe it was the old neon jukebox by the front door.

Maybe it was because this is where I first met Calum. Like me, Home is Calum's favorite place in the whole city. It wasn't just a diner we'd go together, it was our place.

later

I had left the diner about an hour ago and I was back in my comforting apartment. I had showered and taken a nap, exhausted from everything the past few days had brought. I hadn't talked to Calum much and to think of it, I was fine. To be honest, I hadn't really thought about him since this morning.

At least until I heard a loud crash from across the hall, booming like a drum.

The banging continued but began to find rhythm, soon starting to sound like a song. I heard muffled voices and another sound I couldn't exactly pinpoint. I brushed it off and grabbed a book off my coffee table that I had been reading for months, not being able to find the time to finish it and try to block out the obnoxiously loud noises from across the hall

I sit there and stare at the words. Right now, they're just ink on a page, with no meaning. All that's capable of filling my mind is the sounds from across the hall, and I have to admit I started to get very annoyed. It was getting late and I knew it was coming from Calum's apartment. I continued to sit there at stare at the words, wondering if it'd ever stop. At this point, I was pissed. The one time I try to sit down and focus, I'm interrupted by someone who thought it would be a great idea to play drums at midnight.

I finally get fed up with the noise and decide to do something about it. I loudly knock on Calum's front door, not even sure if he'd be able to hear it over how loud the sounds coming from his apartment were. I start to remember the first time this had happened, and I also remember what came with it. This was the night I flinched at Calum, which caused a lot of problems and confusion.

Finally someone, who isn't Calum, opens the door. He's pretty tall and has noticeably pink lips. His hair was a light pink color, obviously fading dye, but it worked well on him.

"Can I help you?" the guy asked. His was voice deep, but soft at the same time.

"Can I talk to Calum?" I said, softly smiling so I don't seem like a total bitch.
