Happy thoughts.
Thats what you needed right now, but your brain has decided to turn off all of your logic, and you couldn't think of anything. There were all these fears that surrounded you, and the thing was that you knew that they were irrational. But did that matter? Of course not, you had no logic right now.
It was times like these that you questioned everything good. Like why did you have friends? Does your family feel forced to love you? Are your friends just nice to your face and then talk bad about you behind your back?
The worse part? If you actually asked them any of these things, they would just assure you, "Of course not Y/N! We love!" And you would just nod and smile, thinking that this just cements the fact that they were all lying and that they all hate you.
Last time you were in one of these moods, you had asked Peter one of these questions. And he too had given you the same response, and you had also thought that he was lying. But what you didn't realize was that your friends were all worried about you, but no one knew what to do to help.
Since then, Peter kept a notepad, writing down all the things that make you generally smile or laugh or keep you in a good mood. You noticed the notebook and just assumed he was getting tired of you and was trying to distract himself when in your presence. This sent you into another mood, as you were calling them now.
When you arrived at school that day, you were distracted. Somehow, you didn't get called on in class at all, therefore not getting into any trouble, thank god. But someone did notice. Peter did. And when he saw you were in a mood, he was happy.
Not happy in a bad way, like he was happy that you were sad, but more happy because he actually had something to try and help. So during break, while you went into you the bathroom, Peter unlocked your locker to put your gift in your bag to see when you got home. He knew your combination of course, it was Y/B/D, very simple, but one Peter knew by heart.
After school that day, you both walked home together, as you lived near each other. You had your earbuds in, not really having the energy to hold a conversation right now. Peter understood this and just took in the action of Queens as you guys walked through it. As you turned to head into your building, you mumbled "Bye" to Peter, barely audible not looking at him. The second you went into your apartment, you hid underneath your blanket fort in your room, hoping it would make you feel better.
Unfortunately it didn't, however it gave you enough energy to bring your backpack in, so you could at least see, if not do, your homework. When taking out all of you papers, you noticed something of weight at the bottom. Curious, you grabbed it out to see a glass mason jar that had a ribbon and a note attached on it. Looking at the note to make sure this was actually meant for you, because who cared enough to give you something, you saw that it was from Peter, as it said 'Y/N/N' in his handwriting, and he was the only one who called you that.
Surprised you looked inside to see multiple things. Lining the inside were little cut outs of dog pictures and memes, making you smile almost immediately. In between that, there were little bits of paper fold up with some of your favorite chocolate also in there. Surprisingly the chocolate didn't melt.
You grabbed a couple of the papers, unfolding them, to see little notes and pictures for you, all tailored somehow to make you happy again. Putting everything back in, as you were now in a better mood, you realized something important.
Peter having put this all together, especially for you, nothing generic, made you realize, that there was a chance that maybe your friends did love you, and if not, Peter certainly did. You grabbed a blanket, ready to take a quick nap so you would have energy to go and thank Peter at his apartment, you fell asleep with a big smile on your face and a warm heart.
A/N: this jar actually is something that one of my friends gave me, and it does help cheer me up if I'm really stressed out, enjoy :)
