Captain Obvious

You were on the rooftop, dangling your legs over the edge as you watched the sunset after what had been a busy, but surprisingly fun day at school, which was unusual, but it was a nice unusual. But no matter how nice the busyness was, you still needed to relax and something about being up so high here was so peaceful, even though you could still hear the city, but the peace came from being able to separate yourself from it and just watch, not doing anything exciting or important. You were so calm and out of it, that when you heard a big thump on the rooftop, you got so startled that you almost fell off, which was not very safe.

Steading yourself by holding the roof, you carefully turned to see what had caused the ruckus, trying to be extra careful as you didn't think you could handle another scare, seeing how hard you heart was beating. Instead of seeing something normal such as a cat or bird leaping from rooftop to rooftop, you saw Spider Man. While seeing him didn't startle you, your heart started beating even faster as you got worried. Because to you, it made perfect sense that if Spider Man was here, there was also trouble here, and therefore you were in some trouble. After all, superheroes follow trouble, and trouble follows superheroes in the fight of good vs evil. And you appreciated the fight much more when you weren't in the middle of it all.

At least right now, there wasn't any trouble, that you could at least detect, and from the looks of it, neither did Spider Man. Instead of being in a ready position like he was awaiting an enemy to pounce on him, he was pacing back and forth, like he had an internal dilemma. Either way, he hadn't noticed you yet, which was a little weird considering that you were in plain view, but you were curious about what was happening, Spider Man was a superhero after all.

You slowly got up and walked towards him, and you stopped when you could hear him talking to himself. You had to close your eyes to focus on it however, which caused you to crouch so you could touch the roof, as you didn't exactly want to almost fall off the roof to your death again. But with your eyes closed, you were able to focus, and you could make out was Spiderman was saying, well more like muttering considering how much effort you had to put into hearing him clearly enough.

"I'm Spider Man" he said, it didn't seem like he was talking to anyone in a mic or anything, so you assumed that he was talking to himself. Except why did he have to tell himself that, like he was trying to convince himself of something. You did feel a little bad for him, as a superhero shouldn't necessarily have extra things to worry about, they were doing a lot for the city anyway. If you could help him, you would, so you decided that you would try and add some humor to try and distract him for sometime so he could relax. "Thank you Captain Obvious for that observation" you said, muffling your voice with you hand to try and imitate an announcement person. It was like you were the person behind the chair, like in the comics! That felt cool, but clearly Spider Man did not think the same.

At the sound of your voice, Spider Man jumped in the air, turning around to face you as he was just alerted of your presence, and spraying you with webs on instinct. "AHH- Y/N! Oh its you, I'm so so so, sorry, it was just bah accident and-" he started rambling, but then stopped as soon as he comprehended what just happened, and where he was, 'Uhh I can explain you see" he said, but he got cut off as you tried clarifying what just happened "that you are Spider Man? Why would you need to? And can you get me out of this" Spider Man just continued talking, not addressing any of your questions, however he started to at least get most of the web fluid off of you. "I'm so sorry, I swear I was going to tell you. I was going to tell you after the biology test, and Ned knows already and I'm so so sorry Y/N" he quickly finished, then backed away from you, as if he was scared of your reaction.

He started at you, turning his head to a side as he got confused what you just sat there blinking you eyes form a couple minutes. What was actually happening was that your mind was processing what the fuck just happened, thinking about what he told you.

First of all, Spider Man knew your name, even though you have literally never met before ever while he was in suit. That means that this person has to be someone you have interacted with sometime in your life. However, they mentioned your bio class, which limits the number of people from a couple thousand to maybe around 40ish. However, lucky for you they mentioned Ned. Now Ned isn't very popular which limits this to two possible people, Peter or MJ.

You swear, if MJ was Spider Man, you would laugh your head off, since MJ is MJ, and she doesn't really care too much, she's not a people person unlike the shocked Spidey over here. If Spider Man was Peter, then he has a lot of questions heading his way in the near future.

It probably was Peter though, so you asked "Peter?" Which cause Spider Man's head to go straight back up, alert and his looked for any signs of danger. This confirmed that Spider Man was indeed Peter, which cleared everything up a little. "Couple things" you started as Spider- well Peter, nodded as he was more ready for your possible outburst now, 'first of all, you told Ned before me! And second of all, why did you did you assume that I knew who you were unprompted?" Peter looked really confused at that last part, thinking what was wrong with you, "because you can see my face, and I didn't think you were blind, seeing how I have known you for a couple years now" he said, pointed at his face. Seeing you still confused face, he went to brush his fingers through his hair, only to be met with the suit.

"PETER" you screamed, "first of all, you told Ned before me???" He nodded, not knowing why you had just screamed his name, cause obviously you knew before this meeting. His face made an 'o' as he realized that he had his mask on the entire time, and that if he had realized this, you wouldn't know that he was Spider Man tonight.

"You're not going to tell anyone right?" He whispered, a little worried. You looked at him with a disappointing face telling him, "well you sure didn't think I would, seeing how you were going to tell me after the bio test anyways. So me knowing a day in advance doesn't really change anything". At this, Peter's face relaxed a little, realizing that this wasn't going to have any surprise consequence since he had prepared for this anyways. You laughed a little at his stupidity, and you turned to face the city again, gesturing for Peter to sit next to you.

By now the sky was dark, as the sunset only lasts for a couple of minutes, not long enough for an entire identity reveal. However, an entire identity reveal was the exact amount of time it takes for the sky to transition from sunset to full on starry night. You both enjoyed the peace, looking at constellations. Of course, that was after Peter assured you that there wasn't anyone he needed to save and that he would stay alert. But the sky was nice and peaceful, and who knows, maybe you'll see a shooting star.
