Worry

You cared too much, that's what people would say. In a way that was true, after you met someone and became close, you would always try to make sure they were happy, not troubled whenever they were with you. When they weren't you would be worried, worried for their safety especially when you had nothing to do and your imagination could go free. Imagination is a wonderful thing to have they all said, but to you, your imagination created the most crazy scenarios and convinced you it could happen, or that it was going to happen. So yes, maybe you did care to much, but was that too bad? According to MJ, it was, she was the first person to notice you wiring and caring for everything but yourself, her included. She approached you, argued until you were no longer worrying about her unnecessarily, or at least not as much.

MJ was also the first person you met at Midtown and she was also the one to introduce you to Peter and Ned. At first, you did worry about Peter and Ned, but then Peter got the stark internship, and the you started worrying so much as you had a feeling that this time you weren't making up, that this time something bad was happening. The worry increased even more, if that was even possible, the more you began to know him.

The closer you guys became, the more time you would spend together, and the more you would notice thing. Things such as Peter being glued to his phone as if he was waiting for something. Things such as Peter having less and less homework done and more and more eye bags. At first you had just written these things off as your usual worrying cause you were aware of it but after a month you knew that this wasn't in your head, that this wasn't fake, that you weren't going crazy.

Because honestly? MJ had been watching you during your encounter with Peter, as she had already suspected he was Spiderman and was worried that you would go overboard about caring, she knew that at some point you would start making up scenarios that weren't true, and she was ready to help you. But after a couple months of Peter having the stark internship, the incident happened.

The incident, a day that scarred all of four of you. There was a chem test happening the next day, and you and Peter had chosen a cafe to meet and study. You had arrived five minutes early, getting your coffee, ready to get into the mindset and for the love of Thor not worry too much. Unfortunately for you, the cafe had a TV that was playing the news. Unfortunately, because it was talking about a series of recent murders, and you with your active imagination, started thinking.

Thinking about how you might be next, how one of your friends might be next. That particular train of thought got worse as you looked at time, seeing how Peter was 15 minutes late. Its New York you reasoned, he late a lot anyways you told yourself, trying to ignore what was coming next.

What if he's next. What if he is about to be murdered on his way here? What if he is already dead and he's late because he is never coming. What if?

Panicked, because it felt all too real and you had this strange feeling in your gut, you called MJ, "I think something is wrong, can you check on Peter? He's not hear yet and he is" you paused, looking up at the clock "around 45 minutes late. MJ, I know what you're going to say, I know he is late a lot, but never this late" you finished, pleading. On the other end all you heard was silence until you heard her sigh, "I'll check" she started, "but Y/N, you really have to do something about this paranoia of yours". "Deal" you said, ready to do anything to get rid of the sick feeling in your stomach.

MJ left the park where she currently was ready a book you recommended, walking to where Peter's apartment was. She knocked on the door, waiting for someone to answers, but thinking how Y/N needs to start do some more rational thinking, as MJ just really didn't believe her claim about Peter. When Aunt May answered the door and told MJ that Peter had left almost an hour ago to meet Y/N, MJ started to know the gut feeling in her stomach.

Going online, searching up news on Spiderman, and finding reports of him, Peter, caused MJ to drop her phone, almost shattering it. She quickly called 911 to get Peter helped and then called Ned to meet Y/N with her, to tell Y/N about Spidey, ignoring Ned's surprised comments.

Almost 30 minutes after the call with MJ, you had began to panic after you didn't hear back from her, so you were relieved when you heard the door job to reveal MJ and Ned, but there was still no Peter. Sitting down with you, they told about Peter being Spiderman and how he was late because he got struck down and was on the way to the hospital.

All these weeks, you're observations and worries had actually lead to something. You should be happy that you weren't going insane, but you felt empty. Empty because for once you noticed something real, not from imagination, and you didn't do anything quick enough. Empty.
