"What do you mean you haven't ever gone trick or treating?" Peter yelled, causing you to drop the pumpkin you were holding out of surprise.

He quickly grabbed the pumpkin before it went smashing all across the ground, "And now you drop the pumpkin tsk" he mock teased you.

You offered a sheepish smile, shrugging your shoulders at him as you took the pumpkin from him. "I just never went trick or treating I guess? It does take place at night in the cold, so possible sickness and extreme amounts of candy? That's a no from my parents" you offered.

Peter stared at you disbelieving, not ever hearing of any kid not allowed to go trick or treating on Halloween. "So..." he started tentatively, as if he knew he was about to say something stupid (he was), "you've never had candy then?"

You were all of a sudden glad you had the pumpkin and not Peter. As if Peter had the pumpkin, he would have dropped if out of surprise as you slapped the back of his head because of his idiocy. "I take that as a no then?" Peter said, laughing at how annoyed you look at him.

You rolled your eyes at his laughter, replying "No dipshit, the grocery store has candy you know."

"But your parents and candy?" Peter tried pointing out.

"I said excess amounts. Besides Peter, you know me, I'll get my candy and chocolate one way or another" you replied, acting offended that Peter wouldn't know that. After all, he did tease you about your sweet tooth so often.

"True" Peter nodded, conceding this mini-debate to you. Peter walked slightly ahead of you to pay for the pumpkin that you were carrying. As he talked to the cashier, you looked around you, breathing in the fall atmosphere.

The fields were still full of pumpkins, with the surrounding areas full of colorful trees shedding their leaves. You noticed what seemed to be a giant pile of leaves near the gate, it was a pile so big it was just begging to be jumped in.

And you would have if it wasn't for Peter. "Y/N! Where are you going?" he yelled out to you. Looking back at him, you noticed you had gradually drifted towards the said pile of leaves. Gently, you put down the pumpkin and pointed at the pile, yelling "I'm going to jump!"

At this Peter seemed a little frightened, motioning for you to wait as he ran up to you. Out of breath, he panted and help up a single figure, signaling to you that he had something to say.

Your heart started beating rapidly all of a sudden as you waited, but you ignored it, brushing it aside. It must have been from impatience of waiting for Peter, as your heart went back to normal the second he started talking, "You shouldn't jump in the pile of leaves Y/N, because-" Peter started explaining before you cut him off.

"What do you mean I shouldn't jump! The pile of leaves is perfectly there! There's no sign!" You yelled, annoyed that you waited for so long to be told not to do the thing you were waiting for.

"I was about to tell you before you cut me off you know!" Peter said, raising an eyebrow at pouty face.

"Sorry" you muttered, giving Peter the biggest 5-year-old smile you could muster. Peter just laughed at your expression as you picked up the pumpkin and started heading towards the gate. Before Peter could stop you from going (it's not your fault the gate entrance and the pile of leaves are in the same spot), you quickly said "I know, not the leaves for some fucking reason" while pointing at the gate.

Peter rolled his eyes at you before continuing, saying "Like I was saying before, you shouldn't go in the pile of leaves because they are so neat right now. You are going to cause the owners so much trouble to try and put together the pile if you jump" he explained. You still wanted to argue with him, but you had to appreciate how nice and caring Peter was, so you decided to just shut up about it.
