Rapunzel's POV
I didn't like the fact that this Pitch guy knew everyone he kidnapped except me. Why did he even kidnap me in the first place? Sure, I whacked his friend on the head with my frying pan, but they were invading my house. Fair is fair. Now I was stuck in his sick idea of a game. And a volcano.
Not to mention that the second I walked in, the boy with me told me to bug off. Really? But at least he was being smart, going solo. But of course, that left me alone. In a volcano. That probably has monsters around. A chameleon climbed out of my braid and onto my shoulder. Oh, right. I had Pastel. When they took my frying pan, they missed Pastel. I was thankful for the company.
"Ok... So here I am." I said. Where was here? I mean, where really? This was a hall in a volcano, or was it? I stepped towards the wall of the passageway. Pitch had called it his Chamber of Dreams. So was this all a dream? Only one way to find out. I hit the wall with my frying pan. It passed right through, like jello. I shoved a hand into the wall. It felt gritty. I pulled out a handful. Black sand.
"Ha ha! This is all fake! I have you all figured out Pitch!" I yelled. Everything was silent for a moment.
"Oh, you do do you?" He purred. That didn't sound good. A portal opened up beneath me, and I fell out of this imagined world and into another. This must be somewhere in the same room, because it was still hot. The walls and floor were the same, and I fell from the roof to the floor. When I hit the ground, my frying pan slid out of reach. Flames erupted around me, an impassible ring that left me separated from my frying pan.
"Go on dear. Step through the flames. You say this is all fake? Prove it." Pitch demanded. I thought for a moment. He asked me to prove him wrong, which meant the flames were probably real. Then again, he may just say that so I will believe it's real and will just sit here. I was at an impasse. And so, until I could think of a way to find out if the flames were real without sticking a body part or Pastel in them, I was stuck. Stuck as a duck in the muck.
Merida's POV
I didn't want to go through the portal. But I didn't want to sit in a pool of that wicked black sand either. So I went through the portal. I was all alone. I couldn't decide if that was good or bad though. I suppose good.
I notched an arrow and stared around the room I had appeared in. It was super hot, and I was on a ledge. Nothing was around me. I began trying to figure out a way to get down, when I heard a small yelp. I turned back towards the edge of the ledge, and saw a girl with a frying pan and a braid fall through the air and land on the floor in a ring of flames. Her frying pan flew out of her grasp. Rapunzel, or a fake? But then again, why would Pitch trap a fake?
"Go on dear. Step through the flames. You say this is all fake? Prove it." Pitch's voice demanded. I held perfectly still. I don't think he realized I was here. Or maybe he did. Rapunzel just stood rigid. Pitch laughed.
"I thought so. The walls in that hall just happen to be made of black sand. Crushed obsidian. You're lucky it didn't cut your fingers. So stay here like a good girl, and I will send you some help. I seem to have forgotten how to remove the flames." Pitch chuckled. I leaned back and thought about what Pitch had said. Rapunzel had stuck her hand in the wall? And it was black sand... Pitch called it obsidian. Could she be right? Was this all an elaborate dream?
Jack's POV
I shut my eyes as I was pulled to my death. Then I heard a screech, and the tentacle released me. I floated in the air and shot the black sand creature with frost. It was frozen. For some reason, it didn't look any better that way. I looked around to see why it had screeched. Someone was standing behind it. They had brown hair, green eyes, and a missing foot. It was replaced by a iron peg. Must be Hiccup.
"Nice work." He told me, nodding his head towards the ice.
"Thanks. And thanks for saving me." I told him.
"Don't mention it. Let's go see how your friend is doing." He said, leading the way to Elsa. She was on the floor and seemed to be knocked out. Hiccup checked her pulse.
"She's alive. Might just take her a while to come around. And she's going to have an awful headache." Hiccup told me.
"I might be able to help with that." I said, putting my hands on Elsa's forehead. Hiccup looked at me strangely.
"What? I'm perpetually cold. My skin is always cold. I thought it would be like an ice pack." I said defensively. He shrugged. Elsa began to come around, then opened her eyes. She pushed my hands off of her and sat up.
"What did I miss?" She mumbled.
"Rapunzel was a fake, and she whacked you and tied me in her hair/tentacles and then Pitch laughed and she was about to stab me and Hiccup saved me and we revived you. I think that about sums it up." I said.
"Wow. I missed a lot. You get knocked out, and all the rescues happen while you're gone." She joked. Me and Hiccup smiled, then helped her to her feet. Pitch sighed.
"I look away for like, one second, and you rescue each other and destroy my little pet!" Pitch pouted.
The three of us stood back to back, ready for whatever challenge Pitch sent is next.
"The game is getting too easy for you. I just thought up a good ending. Merida is already there, and so id Rapunzel. Now they just needs you three. Have fun!" Pitch said. A portal opened under out feet and we fell in, then stumbled into another room. There was a ring of flames in the middle of the room, and Rapunzel was in it. The flames disappeared, and a hidden ledge above us dissolved. Merida fell screaming and landed on Hiccup. Rapunzel ran over and joined us.
"Hiccup! You're alive!" Merida said. Then she slapped him.
"You idiot! Why did you try to save me?" She complained. Hiccup rubbed his cheek.
"Geez! I was just being a proper gentleman. And it doesn't matter now anyway." Hiccup told her.
"What now guys?" Rapunzel asked.
"Now, I have a task for you. Tasks are more fun than letting you wander around in my opinion." Ledges appeared everywhere, as well as staircases connecting them. They spiraled up and up until they reached the top of the room. Then a portal opened up at the highest ledge.
"This is a simple game. You see it in almost every movie involving volcanos. Climb up to the portal and go through to live." Pitch explained. All of us ran to the stairs and ledges and began climbing. The floor of the room began to glow red hot, then melted into lava.
"Did I mention the rising lava?" Pitch asked. Uh oh. I could fly, but not the others. We had to work together on this.
"Everyone! I have an idea! I will fly Elsa up, and she will use her powers to try and slow down the lava. The rest of you keep climbing. Then I will one by one fly you up to the portal. Got it?" I called.
"Got it!" Everyone replied. I flew to Elsa and picked her up, then flew her to the top. She began using her powers to try to slow down the lava. I flew back down and grabbed Rapunzel, who was falling behind, then flew her up. I flew back down and went for Hiccup next. The lava was still rising, but not as fast.
"No! Get Merida!" He said. I grabbed him anyway.
"Dude! Your foot is slowing you down! She's already way up there!" I yelled at him. It was getting hard to hear each other. I put him with the others and then got Merida and brought her up. Pitch growled.
"You would help fakes?" Pitch asked.
"Might as well help everyone until they prove they are fakes." I replied.
"Rrrgggh! Get in there!" He growled. and a wave of black sand slammed into us and sent us into the portal. I blacked out as the nightmares took root. At least we had all survived our first day.
