Test of Love

Rapunzel's POV

I was nothing. My last clear thought was telling Merida everything was fake. Then the chocker started burning and I felt like fire was shooting through me, and then I fell into the sand. The good news, I didn't think I was dead. Yet. The bad news, I had no idea where I was.

It was all dark, and all around me swirled the images of people I knew and places I had been. But all of them were nightmares instead of just visions and memories. Of course they were nightmares. What was it with this guy and nightmares? But since I was powerless, I just floated, waiting for something to happen. I wondered if this was how Jack was feeling. I wondered if the others would find him.

Merida's POV

I pushed though the wall and charged into another. Time was running out, and it probably wouldn't be long before Pitch accused me of cheating. And then I would end up just like Rapunzel. Luckily, after two more walls I ran into Elsa and Hiccup. Literally.

"Ahhh! It's one of Pitch's fakes!" Elsa screamed. Hiccup raised his sword.

"Hold on guys! It's the real me! I promise!" I explained. Neither of them looked convinced.

"No way. Your hair is all messed up. And look at your face! Your eyes are too close together." Hiccup said. I slapped him.

"Hiccup! It's really me!" I told him. He rubbed his cheek.

"Owww.... yep, that's Merida. No fake can slap like that." I slapped him again.

"What was that for?" He complained.

"That was for not believing me." I told him. Then I slapped him again.

"What was that for?"

"That was for saying my hair is messed up and my eyes are too close together."

"I was just trying to prove you were real!"

"I likely cover story. I have something to tell you. Something important." I said. My chocker started to get uncomfortably hot. Ok, I was not going to tell them. But I had to find a way to get around the chocker problem.

"Never mind. Let me just show you." I grabbed Elsa's arm and shoved it through the hedge. She screamed slightly, then stopped when she realized that I wasn't hurting her. I let go.

"No way." She breathed.

"Is this for real?" Hiccup asked.

"I can't say. If any of us approach the topic of you-know-what, then the chockers get really hot. I'm not entirely sure what they do if you actually say anything." I said.

"How did you find this out? You must be a genius!" Elsa declared. I looked down.

"I'm not the genius. It was Rapunzel who figured that out. She must have found out at the first stage. I heard Pitch say something about it being obsidian shards. He was trying to convince her that it was her imagination or something." I told them.

"Oh. Where is Rapunzel?" Hiccup asked.

"I... I don't really know. She was with me, and we started using her hair as a trail. Then Pitch opened up a pit of black sand under her, and she was trapped. She told me the secret, then the chocker she was wearing turned white hot and she fell." I said solemnly. Elsa and Hiccup looked sad.

"That's too bad. But what now? We still have to find Jack. Then we can work on Rapunzel." Elsa said.

"I suggest we split up. One person in each direction, except the way I came from. Push through the walls and try to find Jack. Agreed?" I suggested.
