There's a Fucking Peacock | a.k.

    Meeting Awsten was probably one of the best things to happen to me but I did not want to admit that to anyone. We've been going out and seeing each other a lot recently and I didn't want to even tell myself this, but I think I'm falling for this goofy, bright-headed kid that makes me laugh and my heart skip a couple beats. With a past of heartbreak from cheaters, abusers, and drug users, I didn't think there was any good guys left out there. Until I met Awsten.

      Heading to the coffee shop on the corner, I hum along to the song playing in my ears. I smile at an older lady that waves at me, and open the door for a mother with a small child. I walk into the coffee shop and smile at the barista, telling her my order and sitting down, waiting for my drink and Awsten. The bell above the door jingles and I look over my shoulder, waving at Awsten with a wide, toothy grin. I haven't been this happy in a really long time and I've never felt better.

    Awsten comes to the table, setting my coffee in front of me and holding a sugar cookie. He sits and breaks the cookie in half, taking a bite out of one side and handing me the other. I laughed as i wiped away a crumb from his stubble. "Thanks, I'm messy as fuck." He chuckled, a slight blush settling on his cheeks. "You're also cute as fuck." I said before taking a bite of my half of the cookie. Awsten shook his head but I totally knew he was adorable. "So what do you want to do today?" I ask, taking a sip of my coffee, Awsten shrugged, "I don't know. The zoo, maybe?" He suggested, shoving the rest of his cookie in his mouth. I nodded, eating the rest of my cookie and gulping my coffee quickly. 

     Holding the door open for me, Awsten smiled, "I have my car, if you want a ride." He offers. "Sure, but do you mind taking me to my apartment? I have a few things I need to grab." I look up at him as we walk up to his car, "I do not mind one damn bit." Awsten told me as he opened the car door for me. I wiggled my eyebrows at him, "Chivalry isn't dead, I guess." I laughed causing him to roll his eyes and shut the door after I got in. 

    I opened the door to my apartment and let Awsten walk in, "You can sit down, I'll be right back." I told Awsten, to which he nodded and sat on the couch. I went to my room, grabbing my small, over the shoulder bag. I threw my keys, wallet, deodorant, perfume, sunblock and a few other things. I heard my bedroom door open and looked over to see  Awsten chasing my cat onto my bed and leaning over him, nuzzling his nose against my cat's.

    "Oh, that's Gibs. Be careful, he'll-" "He licked me!" Awsten's yelp cut my warning short, "Yup, he's always done that and I don't really know why." I laughed a bit, pulling Gibs into my arms and kissing his head. I set him down on my pillow and motioned for Awsten to follow me out of my room. I turned on the lamp in the living room, in case I'm not back before dark. I followed Awsten out of my apartment and locked the door. We took the elevator down to the parking garage and headed for the zoo.

     I reached for my wallet but Awsten was already handing me my ticket to get into the zoo. I looked up him and sighed, "I told you I don't like owing anyone anything." Awsten chuckled and shook his head, "You don't owe me anything, except maybe a kiss." He told me, grabbing my hand and interlocking our fingers. I blushed and pecked his cheek. We hand our tickets to the guy and walk through the twisting bar thing. I pull Awsten toward a small deck and point excitedly, "Look at the ducks! And there's a fucking peacock!" I shrieked, pointing wildly. 

     Awsten laughed at me as I ran from exhibit to exhibit, gawking at the animals like I'd never seen them before. "It's been a hot minute since I've been here, " I told him with a red face, hot from being out in the sun for an hour and  a half. "It's totally okay, It's so fucking adorable." He told me, pulling me into a hug. Awsten placed his fingers under my chin, making me look up to him before he placed his lips on mine for a small but heart-melting kiss. "I really like you and these past few weeks have been so amazing." He told me, his forehead resting on mine. "I really like you too Awsten." I admitted, shocking myself. "I have an important question and you can't say no, now that I've met your cat," Awsten smiled and I nodded for him to continue, "Will you be my girlfriend, officially?" He finished and my smile widen even more as I nodded and pulled him in for another kiss. "Good, now let's go look at the elephants." Awsten took my hand back in his and lead the way to the newly built exhibit.
