I didn't know how but I was going to get out of here. I needed to leave and get as far as I could. I looked at the clock, 2:30 p.m., it said. A few days have passed and I was losing my mind. I decided to leave the bedroom and head to the living room. I checked to see if my soon to be ex boyfriend was here, the car was in the driveway and I heard snores come from the recliner in front of the T.V. I went over to take a look and saw Matt passed out, I took a deep breath and went to the kitchen as quiet as possible. I placed my hand on the door knob and held my breath, still hearing Matt's loud snoring. I pulled the backdoor open and ran. I ran and ran and ran some more. I didn't stop until I got to the gas station three miles down the road.

Carol, the store owner, recognized me and smiled until she noticed my state. "Darling, are you okay?" She asked worriedly in her thick southern accent, I cried. I slumped over the counter and sobbed. Carol came around and pulled me into the small break room behind the counter. "What did he do? I always suspected he wasn't treatin' you right." Carol sighed and picked up the phone, handing it over to me, "You got someone to call, hon?"  I shook my head but shot it up when I remembered there was  someone I could call. I took the phone from her, "Thank you so much, Carol. Please, if he comes here, don't let him know I'm here. Please." I looked up at her from my seat with pleading, teary eyes. "Don't you worry, dear. He ain't gettin' ya no more." She rubbed my shoulder before leaving the small room and closing the door behind her.

With a shaky hand, I dialed the number I've had memorized since middle school. A few rings sound in my ear before a husky voice answered, "Hello?" The groggy man said on the other end. "Sebastian, it's me. I need your help." I told him quickly, "Y/N. What's wrong?" Sebastian said, concern lacing his voice, "I'm sitting in the gas station at the edge of Goodsprings. I left Matt and now I have nowhere to go. I had no one else to call." I told him, choking back a sob "The 24 hour station, Carol's gas station?" He asked, I heard a belt buckle clang together, "Yeah." I sniffed. "I'll be there by morning, stay there. Seriously, don not go anywhere, Y/N." Sebastian said, a door slamming on his end of the conversation. "Okay. Thank you so much." I told him before hanging up. I put the phone back on the receiver and took a deep breath. I put my head in my hands and sat like that for a while.

With every slam of a car door, my heart stopped until I was sure it wasn't Matt. I kept telling myself he's probably still passed out drunk as shit. I looked up at the clock, reading 9:47, I sighed. This was going to be a long night. I knocked at the door and Carol opened it a few moments later, "Can I possibly get something to drink?" I asked her, "Of course you can, dear! Help yourself to anything in my store!" She smiled and held the door open as I timidly stepped out of the break room. I quickly gathered coffee, cold and hot, and some snacks, keeping my eyes on the parking lot at all times. I scurried back to the break room with filled arms and set everything on the table.

At midnight, Carol's son came in for the graveyard shift and looked at me quizzically, "Hey, Josh." I gave him a small smile, "You finally leave that son of a bitch?" He asked, his accent just as thick as his mother's. I nodded and took a gulp of my coffee, "I have someone coming to help me though. An old friend." I said, smiling as I thought of Sebastian. "I'll keep an eye out for his truck. If he shows up, I'll shoot his ass." Josh nodded to me as he left the break room. The constant thought of Matt showing up was terrifying me and I couldn't shake that feeling. I just knew at some point tonight, he would show up looking for me.

I dozed off with my head on the table around 1:30 but was startled awake by yelling outside the break room at three o'clock. I immediately knew it was Matt, "Look, I know she at least stopped by here. Where is she, Joshua?" Matt demanded. "Hey man, she may have showed up but you'll have to check in with ma in the mornin'. I'm sure she'll come back around, to get her stuff, at least." Josh said, I heard a sigh. "I just want my girl back." Matt said in more calm voice. "From what I'm gettin' at, she ain't your girl no more so I'm gonna ask you to leave one more time before I call the cops or shoot your ass myself." Josh said sternly. I heard a fist slam against the counter and jumped, my heart racing until I heard tires against gravel, speeding away.

I watched the clock strike 4 a.m. and I stood up, stretching. I heard a car door slam and quickly sat back down. The bell from the store rang loudly and I heard some mumbling, "She's in here." I hear Josh say before the doorknob starts turning and I start shaking, tears welling in my eyes. The door opened and I sobbed, seeing who was on the other side. I threw myself into Sebastian's arms and cried. Sebastian rubbed my back and shushed me. I pulled back and looked up at him, tears still falling. "Good god, thank you so much." I told him, "Don't mention it. Let's get you home." Sebastian said, pulling me back to his chest.

Sebastian lead me to his car, which Remington was leaning on. Remington looked up from his phone and smiled, I ran to him and wrapped my arms around his neck in a tight hug. "You okay?" Remington asked, and I nodded, "I am now." I told him and climbed into the car. "Want us to go kick his ass?" Emerson asked as I slid into the backseat with him, "No, he has a warrant out for his arrest because of a D.U.I." I told them as we left the gas station. I explained to them what had been going on for the last few years and how I got out of the situation. We passed the Nevada/California border and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. This was the perfect way to start over.
