Walking in the park was something I always did, every morning. However, part of my way was blocked off today and I couldn't see anything but a large group of teenagers. I decided to just walk around the blockage and continue on with my walk. Halfway through, I saw what the kids were crowding around; some dudes dressed absurdly for this hot weather, one was even wearing a suit and another was wearing a giant top hat. They wore makeup and were being very loud, I guess they had to be in order to talk over the screaming teens. After gawking at them for what seemed like an eternity, I continued my walk around the park.
I made another round, now on my last one, and noticed most of the kids were gone from the crowd. The guys from earlier were still there, now taking pictures with the left over kids. The tallest of the guys looked over at me and waved at me, "Hey, ma'am! Can you help us real quick?!" He shouted over at me and I looked around, thinking he couldn't possibly be talking to me. I looked back at him and pointed to myself, mr. Tall-Guy nodded and waved at me again, motioning me in their direction. I hesitantly begin my journey to see what this man wanted.
I walk up, ducking under the tape the park owners had around this specific area. "What's up?" I asked, looking up at the one who called me over. I took this chance to also look the others over as well; one had spiky hair and the most outrageous makeup, he seemed cool and laid back. The shortest was the one wearing a hat, he was also the most good looking out of the trio. "Can you take a picture on my phone with all of us together?" Mr. Tall-Guy asked, holding his phone toward me.
Taking his phone in my hand, I nodded. I snapped a few photos and handed his phone back and looked at the one in a red jumpsuit, "Do you guys know how hot it is? It's like 98 degrees just today." I stated, the guy nodded, "Yeah, but it's kind of part of our image now." He told me as the lingering teens were walking away. "You have an image?" I asked, my brow furrowed. "Yeah, for the band. Do you not who we are?" The guy with the hat chimed in, I looked at him and shook my head, "Well, I'm Sebastian." The tall, suit-wearing one said. "I'm Emerson." Hat-Guy said, "And I'm Remington." The one in the jumpsuit smiled beautifully at me.
Walking with the brothers toward a bus, it looked like, I was asking questions but they still didn't tell me what the band was or the music they made or anything, really. "This is actually our last stop before heading back to L.A.," Sebastian said, opening the door and letting us all go in the bus. I stood awkwardly against a small table, "So you never told me the name of your band," I told them, looking at Emerson. "Palaye Royale." Emerson stated, to which I nodded, "I think my niece has told me about you guys." I said, thinking aloud. "We're pretty popular these days," Remington said cockily, "Obviously not too popular if I've never heard of you." I said sassily, "Oooh, I like her." Emerson pointed from his seat in the biggest bunk.
"Hey, if you don't have anything going on, you should come with us to California for a few days." Emerson said, walking with me back to my apartment. I thought for a moment, "I don't actually think I have anything until next week, so I can totally come." I said, unlocking my door and walking in. I headed to my room to grab my suitcase and I packed for three days. I figured if I stayed longer, I would just wash something I'd already worn.
Going with Emerson back to the bus, the other two looked quizzically at my suitcase as I walked onto the bus. "She's coming home with us." Emerson informed them before I could get a word out. "You know, she could be a serial killer and you're just willingly bringing her to our house." Remington said, not looking up from his phone. "Are you a serial killer?" A guy they keep calling Curcio asked. "I might be. I've always wondered what it's like to kill someone." I shrugged and Remington looked pointedly at Emerson, who shrugged in response. "You only want to bring her because you think she's hot." Sebastian said, taking a drink from a Gin bottle, I blushed deeply and looked down. Emerson laughed lightly, "You're definitely right."
I walked into their house and stood there, in awe, just taking in the massive home I was standing in. "Come on, my room's over here." Emerson said, pulling my arm slightly. "Wow, your house is incredible." I stated, setting my things in a corner. "Yeah, I guess so." Emerson said, heading back to unload the rest of the bus. I walked out and into the living room, dodging men and trying to stay out of the way as they brought in various instruments and backpacks/suitcases. The house was never ending, I loved it here already and I just walked in five minutes ago.
I remember moving in with Emerson like it was yesterday. Three months after seeing him and traveling twice a month just to do so, Emerson himself suggested I move in and just work in L.A., after all, it wasn't rocket science with my job. I just needed to find a place that needed permanent help with audio stuff. However, after a month of searching for one of the most sought after jobs in California, Remington brought it to my attention that I could just tour with them and help set up their audio shit and literally get paid to help with my boyfriend's band. I jumped at the opportunity and began working for Palaye Royale.
I had huge news for everyone in the house today but especially Emerson. I waited in the kitchen for the guys to get back from their trip to get food for tonight's dinner. Hearing the door open and the sound of loud laughter filling the house, made my heart jump a bit. I turned toward them and smiled as they settled down, bringing in groceries. I put the stuff away that they brought home and then sat in the game room with them. I picked up the remote and paused the Wii Sports game they were playing.
Standing in front the man I loved the most and his brothers, who are now like family, along with Daniel, my best friend now, I felt like a wave was washing over me. I took a deep breath and put everything on the table, "So, I'm pregnant." I said, not looking at anyone. After a moment of no one saying anything, I looked up to see four deer-in-headlights sets of eyes. Daniel was the first to gain composure, "Holy shit. That kid's gonna be fucked." He laughed, causing the other three to snap out of their trances. Remington cheered about being an uncle, Sebastian asked how did it happen then told me not to answer that question because he knew. Emerson rose form the couch and took my hands in his, "I couldn't be happier having a kid with someone as special as you. We'll kill this 'parenting' bullshit." He kissed my forehead and in that moment, I was in heaven.
