Sam : where's our class?
This cannot be happening. We were lost, in the middle of Dubrovnik city. We didn't know anyone. Our class were nowhere to be seen.
Harper : how long was my pee?!?!
Sydney : they can't be far, come on.
Sydney began to walk away and so we followed. We all walked along the paved stone, secretly all panicking inside. What if we can't find our class? We don't know anyone here. Nor do we know where the heck we are.
We turned a corner, hoping that somehow, our class will just be standing there waiting for us, but no. We couldn't see any sight of our class, only lost tourists roaming the streets. Great.
Harper : what are we gonna do?!?
Sam : I have no idea.
Sydney : how could they just leave us behind, they'll realise we're gone sooner or later and until then all we have to do is wait.
Harper : what, here?
Sydney : yeah, they might come back looking for us and so what good is it gonna be to go scouting for them?
Harper : I just think that it'd be best to at least try and find them.
Sydney : well it'd be best if you didn't drink too much leading you needing the toilet and us then losing our whole entire class in the middle of Dubrovnik!
Harper : I couldn't help it! Nature was calling!
Sydney : well could you tell nature to call at a more convenient time!?!!
Harper : I coul-
Sam : GUYS!
They both took a step back from each other and turned to me.
Sam : this isn't gonna help us find our class! Come on.
I signalled for them to follow me down the street and so they followed.
Sydney : I still think we should wait.
Sam : well you're outnumbered.
She sighed.
Sam : let's not think of it as being lost but that we're on an adventure in the city of Dubrovnik. For once, we're free.
I didn't mean to say that last bit out loud. It was meant for my head and my head only. However, it was true. For once, I felt so free from everything and everyone. The closest I've ever felt to being unattached from reality and my problems. It was just me, my two best friends and an extraordinary city to explore. What more could I ask for?
We began running down the narrow, cobbled streets, weaving round corners, giggling as we went. We stopped occasionally, getting distracted by the shop windows filled with beach ornaments and Croatian souvenirs.
I went in one of the shops that particularly caught my eye. Inside was filled and stacked with tiny handmade glass ornaments that I just fell in love with. The shop was cramped but they still managed to fit in hundreds of thousands of these beautiful creations. As soon as I walked in, I made a deal with myself that I was gonna buy one to take home for Annabelle. But which one?
Each and every one had a unique touch to it so how on earth was I ever gonna find the perfect one? There were animals, flowers, cartoon characters and even little random inanimate objects like chairs and lamps. I decided to rule out the objects as I came to the conclusion that Annabelle would not appreciate such a thing.
Shopkeeper : you needing any help?
Sam : just looking, thanks.
She smiled in my direction as I turned round to look at Syd and Harper outside waiting who seemed rather impatient. I should probably hurry up.
My eyes were somehow drawn to the animals. They were just so cute and lovable. Every little detail was shown on the glass models which showed a tiny facial expression on the animals. I picked up a tiny elephant, took one glance at it and immediately decided to buy it.
Shopkeeper : good choice.
Sam : thanks.
I took the wrapped bag it was in and walked out of the shop.
Sydney : what did you get?
Sam : a little elephant for Annabelle.
Sydney : aw cute!
I smiled as I was proud of my decision.
Harper : so what's the plan?
Sam : well, I was thinking.
Sydney : uh oh.
Sam : what time were we meant to be going to the cable car?
Harper : I think it was 2?
Sydney : yeah, it was.
Sam : so, at 2 we go to the cable cars and meet up with our class again. That gives us a total of 4 hours to explore the city by our selves!
Harper : wait, how are we gonna get to the cable car, we have no idea where we are?!?
Sam : Harper, look around. There are signs everywhere showing the way.
Harper : oh
We all laughed, beginning to walk down the street. We walked for around 20 minutes before suddenly stumbling upon something we all needed. Ice cream!
We walked up to the shop, took one look at the choices and gasped. There was smurf flavour! I had never seen anything like it. It was blue in colour (obviously) and had little smurf models on top made of icing.
Sydney : what are smurfs supposed to taste like?
Sam : I have no idea.
Harper : let's find out!
We all ordered our smurf cones and began walking up the street with them in our hands, melting from the sun in the process.
Harper : this feels wrong.
Sydney : Harp, sorry to break it to you but smurfs aren't real.
Harper gasped dramatically, pretending to be shocked. We all burst out laughing.

Half an hour went by, we had made it to the harbour and were seated on the side, by the water. We looked out into the distance as we chatted about anything and everything.
Suddenly, we heard screams from the other side of the harbour.
Harper : what was that?
Concerned, we got up and made our way over to the other side. As we neared the screaming of girls, it suddenly clicked in my head what it was.
I nudged Sydney in the arm. She looked at me, confused. She didn't understand. I tried to signal to her what was happening but she just wasn't catching on.
Harper : OMG! Sydney, you won't believe this but Marcus and Martinus are right there!
