Sydney : Sam? Come on!

Sam : just a minute!

I scrambled about, frantically trying to think of a way to get out of this situation. I could not let them see my bruises! What would I say? I couldn't tell them about what Joel did! He'd kill me! My breathing was heavy as Panic washed over me. My heart was racing like never before.

Harper : Sam! They've all started going in to the sea!!!

Sam : ok...I'm coming.

I looked in the mirror. Staring at the bruises that dominated my arms. I tried moving my hair over them but it just wasn't long enough. I felt a tear escape my eyes as I realised there was no way out of this. I had to go out.

My hands were trembling as I unlocked the door of the beach hut and grabbed my bag. Slowly, I took a deep breath and swung the door open.

Sam : right let's go!

Sydney : finally! You took you're ti-

She stared at the bruises on my arm as I gulped in nerves.

Sydney : your arms!

Harper : what happened?!?

Sam : oh em it's nothing, I just tripped in the changing room.

Harper : are you ok!?!

Sam : yeah, it looks worse than it actually is.

Sydney : it does.....

Sam : .....come on, we're missing out.

I began walking back to the beach as they followed beside me, not saying a word. I don't think they believed me and I don't blame them. How could someone get that many bruises from just tripping in a changing room.

Harper : I still can't believe you never told me that you met up with Marcus and Martinus last night.

Sydney : we never got the chance.

We made it to the beach as everyone was already in the sea. We scanned about to try and find Marcus and Martinus. We finally noticed them in the sea with their friends, splashing each other. Marcus was making his way out of the ocean, not noticing us yet. He pushed his long hair out of his face making my stomach flutter with butterfly's, but I brushed it off before anyone noticed.

When he did notice us he stopped himself on the sand and stared at me. I felt my cheeks heat up as I noticed the cheeky smirk to which appeared on his face.

He was far enough away that he wasn't able to see my bruises clearly yet. I was so petrified for when he could as he was the only one who's seen them before and knows full well it wasn't because I tripped in the changing room. He began walking towards us.

Sydney : why do I feel like Marcus likes you?

Harper : because he's practically staring right at her with his mouth hanging open.

Sydney : does he know you have a boyfriend?

Sam : em no...

Harper : maybe you should tell him, you don't want him getting the wrong idea.

Sam : I doubt he feels that way anyway.

They both laughed as Marcus drew nearer.

Sydney : are you sure?

She mumbled beside me.

Marcus : hey!

Sam : hi

Marcus' eyes widened as he suddenly noticed my arms. My heart began to beat quicker.

Marcus : your arms.

He stared at me.

Harper : she fell over in the beach hut.

He continued to stare at me, suspicion showing in his face. He frowned, waiting for me to give a proper explanation.

Sam : come on, let's go!

I pushed past the three of them, making my way down to the sea. I noticed Martinus and his friends coming out of the sea, laughing. They walked towards the four of us walking down and stopped us.

Martinus : finally, you guys made it!

Sydney : yeah, sorry we took so long.

Martinus : you look nice.

Sydney giggled to herself.

Martinus : Marcus, let's take them up to the rock.

Harper : what rock?

Marcus : you'll see.

They all began walking to the side of the beach and up a small path, with us three following in behind them. I kept myself at the back of the group as we all walked up the hill. Marcus held back slightly and began walking in beside me.

Marcus : what really happened?

Sam : w-what do you mean?

Marcus : the bruises.

Sam : I told you, I tripped in the changing room.

Marcus : I think we both know that's not what happened.

I walked ahead, trying to ignore him. But he placed his hand on my shoulder, keeping me back.

Marcus : please, I care about you.

Sam : you don't even know me.

I walked ahead again, trying not to look back at him. This time he didn't pull me back even though some part of me kinda wanted him to.

We made it to the top of the hill a few minutes later and I smiled at the wonderful view we had from the top. We could see our teachers and all our bags sitting at the side of the beach and the rest of the class swimming in the sea. Suddenly one of Marcus and Martinus friends jumped off of the rocky cliff and into the water metres below. I gasped, smiling as I realised why we were up here.

A few other of their friends jumped in afterwords doing flips on the way. Then Harper joined in with them and jumped off into the water, screaming on her way down.

Martinus : you ready?

Sydney : I don't know.

She looked extremely scared and so Martinus took her hand into his making her smile and probably relax more. She took a deep breath before they both jumped in together, still holding hands.

Sam : aww they're so cute.

Marcus : I know.

I glanced around me to realise that it was now only Marcus and me at the top. I peaked over the edge of the cliff to see everyone else shouting for us to jump.

Marcus : you scared?

Sam : you really don't know me at all do you?

I laughed before jumping off the cliff, with Marcus smiling and jumping in after me. The force hit me as I plunged into the water. Lifting my head up above the water, I realised I was extremely close to Marcus. We both stared at each other. I felt a small smile escape my lips as he smiled back.

Harper : LET'S GO AGAIN!

We both jumped out of the moment and swam to the shore.
