1 day adrift

i can't move.

i can't breathe.

where am i?

am i dead?

my body feels so weighed down, yet as light as air.

i shiver.

it's so cold.

my eyes fly open.

and i kick with all my might.

my head breaks through the surface of the water and i have a coughing fit.

"oh god."

the cabin is in ruins.

the water reaches up to my chest and pieces of furniture float aimlessly, along with random articles of clothing.

taehyung.

where is he? i don't see him.

heart pounding, i trudge through the water and climb up the ladder, my whole body soaked.

i climb up as fast as i can. i cast my poncho aside and try to open the door leading to the deck.

it's stuck.

"fuck!" i mutter in frustration, rattling the knob. then i slam my body weight into it as hard as i can.

taehyung, taehyung, taehyung, taehyung.

the door finally swings open and i stumble outside.

taehyung, taehyung, taehyung, taehyung.

i whip my head around, scanning the whole boat, which is tilted at an odd angle. but there's nobody here except me.

taehyung...

i spin in a circle, desperately searching for a glimpse of his hair, an arm, a leg, anything. all i'm greeted with is a huge expanse of ocean. ocean everywhere.

"taehyung!" i try yelling, but my voice is hoarse and comes out as a raspy whisper.

the safety line.

i stumble over to the railing and sure enough, the line is still attached. hope rising inside of me, i grasp it and pull with all my strength.

but all i pull up is nothingness.

you weren't attached to the safety line. my heart shatters. i want to sob.

i stand up, shaking as i let the line drop into the water again.

"taehyung!" i yell again. "taehyung, where are you? answer me!"

silence.

i start tearing up.

i  lean across the railing, searching the water and continuously yelling your name.

where are you?

please don't leave me alone.
