i remember our very first dinner together.

the glow on your face when i arrived.

my curiosity about the polaroids on your cabin walls.

the loud thumping of my heart that seemed reach my throat.

"you've been so many places," i mused. "what's it like? sailing out there all alone."

you leaned back in your chair, thoughtfully munching on a piece of lettuce.

"miserable."

i was taken aback.

"you're either sunburnt, sleep-deprived, or seasick."

you watched me with an amused expression.

"and after a few days, there's the hallucinations."

i raised my eyebrows, contemplating what you had just said.

"then why do you do it?"

your eyes sparkled. "it's a feeling."

i felt a smile tugging at my lips.

"it's intense."

"it's all for you. an infinite horizon."

"you must be a sailor to partake in it."

i shook my head, amazed. "i don't know that i would consider myself a sailor."

you looked at me quizzically. "oh, come on."

"not like you!" i defended, laughing.

you looked down at your plate. "wanna take her out?"

i paused. "right now?"

you looked back up at me with a smile that made my heart skip a beat. "anytime you think you might want to go sailing."

you hesitated before shyly adding, "with me."

i bit my lip, trying to hide the grin that was spreading onto my face.

i wanted to respond.

i wanted to say that if it was with you,

i would do anything.
