He took in the writhing of the body beneath him.The screams of pain.
The moans after each jolt. He'd pull the electrodes away from her temples and watch as her body stopped its spasms. But before she could fully relax, he'd push them against her head again and hear the satisfying shrills of agony. Oh how he reveled in them.
It had been a good 15 minutes that he'd been at it. The men guarding the door had done away with any guard charging at them. Dead bodies littered the floors and Joker knew better than to waste anymore time than he already had. Even if he did want to give her more than twice the dosage she had administered to Scarlett and himself, he knew he had to leave soon.
He placed the electrodes to her temples one final time, prolonging the exposure as her screams got louder. Her body pushed further up against the restraints, desperately trying to break free somehow.
But he threw the electrodes to the side and walked to the door, not making eye contact with anyone. He was just focused on getting out of there, once and for all. Once he was out of the building, he looked around him. Fresh air. The outside world. No matter how insane he was, he found comfort in the cool breeze of the night.
He trudged towards the car and climbed in the back of the van.
"Clown!!" He heard a scream and saw Ivy restrained and sitting between the two Russian twins.
"So glad you could join us, Pammy!" Joker grinned and mockingly greeted the plant woman, who seemed more agitated than relieved.
"What the hell is this! I didn't ask to be out! My sentence was almost coming to an end!" She was seething. She had tried her best to be good, keep out of trouble, but somehow the clown prince always fucked things up for her. She was sick of him.
"Oh come on, Pammy, I would think you'd be a little more appreciative of the fact that I let you off early," he winked and chuckled, settling back in his seat.
"What are you up to, clown? And what's that?" She asked as she looked down on the floor of the van, where the body bag was. Joker looked down and then back up to her.
"That's our little project...the reason I busted you out of there with me." He said coldly, crossing his arms and smirking.
"What?" She asked. "Who is it?..Oh my god, it's not...Harleen?"
Joker rolled his eyes in irritation. "Oh please, I've had enough of her. You really think i'd bring that bimbo with me? With us? Besides, the person in the body bag is all that doctor's doing..."
"What do you mean?"
Joker leaned down and gripped the zipper of the bag. He froze for a few seconds, hesitant to see her like this. It made his heart hurt, annoyingly enough. And he knew Ivy would be hysterical but she was going to find out sooner or later.
"You sure, boss?" Johnny asked concerned.
Ignoring Johnny, Joker used all his strength to unzip the body bag in one go, earning a gasp from Ivy. The van went cold suddenly. If anyone had said anything, Joker hadn't heard. He was too busy gazing at the beauty below him. How?
How could she still be so beautiful? His gaze upon her body was soft and he felt his heart twist in his chest. He didn't like the feeling so he zipped the bag back up and leaned back into his seat.
He looked ahead to see Ivy frozen in her seat, peering down at the body bag.
"We're gonna help her." Joker muttered.
"Why?" Ivy asked. "She's dead.."
"Can't you do something, plant? I brought you with me for that reason, I need you to put your botanical concoctions to work. Bring her back." Joker commanded coldly. He was desperate but he'd be damned to let anyone know that.
"So you need my help," Ivy scoffed.
"Don't pretend like you don't care about her." Joker said, his smile now completely lost.
"I'm not some sort of witch, I don't make potions or perform strange rituals. I'm a botanist." Ivy said sternly. She really wanted to help but it frustrated her that she couldn't.
"So there's nothing you can do for her?" Joker asked.
"I was working on something...for myself, before my incarceration. If my hidden greenhouse at the Gotham Arboretum still stands, we may have a chance to do something for her. But she'd need to be alive for it." Ivy explained.
The Joker chuckled in frustration. "Useless..oh how you disappoint me, plant. No wonder Harvey called it quits, AHAHAHA!"
Ivy glared at the clown, wanting to punch him in the jaw, but she was restrained and knew better to attempt anything in present company.
"So, where are you taking us?" Ivy asked.
"Somewhere I can save her. Maybe." He said as he looked to the front of the van.
"Why are you so desperate to get her back? I wish things hadn't gone awry too but...why are you so adamant on bringing her to life again? She's gone, clown. And I know it's something you can't comprehend because of your insanity level but she's gone! She's dead." Ivy spat coldly, irritating Joker.
A large evil grin spread over his face as he put out his hand toward Johnny. Within seconds, he held a file in his hand. The word CONFIDENTIAL was written boldly over the cover in large letters.
"This." He smirked, holding it up.
"Her file?" Ivy questioned as the joker flipped through it.
"Her past. The truth of who she really is." He muttered as he began skimming through blocks of writing. Just basic information such as her name and limited biography.
Ivy carefully studied his face, attempting to read his thoughts. There was something he wasn't telling her. After a few seconds, Joker peered up at ivy and rolled his eyes, flipping the folder and closing it.
"Oh come on," he growled, "you didn't notice?" He asked.
"Notice what?! What the hell is going on?!" Ivy asked exasperated.
"She's a metahuman."
