Ivy sat alone on at a table in the dining hall. She stared bored at the other patients devouring their lunches. It made her stomach churn just watching them eat, most of the time some of them missed their mouths and she watched as the food slid down their chins and onto the table.
Or their clothes.
Or the chairs.
Or the ground.
And she felt nauseated. She could never get used to the food being served here. Her eyes traveled across the room and spotted him.
Like a sore thumb.
She groaned as he also made eye contact and walked slowly to her table, dropping the tray on it and sitting right across from her."Oh Pammy, we have got to stop seeing each other like this! People will start to talk," Joker winked, knowing full well that she never thought of him in that light.
"Trust me clown, I wouldn't be caught dead," ivy scoffed.
"Always so hurtful, when I only wanna love ya," he whined teasingly, laughing at his own joke.
"You barely love yourself clown," ivy bit harshly as she continued to stare away from him.
"You'd be surprised Pammy, I'm quite the lover. So much so that it's led me here," he grinned.
"Oh right, your gay crush on Batman? How could I forget?" Ivy smirked.
The joker growled and swiped his arm across the table, making the tray of food drop onto the floor.
Ivy looked down at the spilled food and then back up at him, completely unimpressed. She turned her head away and her eyes widened at the person walking in the dining hall. She was in handcuffs being led by a female guard.
"Scarlett!" Ivy called out, waving an arm to the girl. As the guard removed the cuffs from her wrists, Scarlett smiled over at Ivy and proceeded to walk to her.
Meanwhile Joker watched this unfold. He couldn't believe his eyes, Scarlett was there. Right there. She looked so different. The way she walked most resembled Ivy.
As the women walked closer, he couldn't help but study her up and down.
God she looked flawless. He could tell she was deprived of sleep and food. They hadn't been treating her at all well and he was wondering why.
But his thoughts were cut short as Ivy spotted him still sitting at the table."Clown, move!" She scoffed as she ledScarlett to the table.
Scarlett looked down at Joker, who stared back.
Those piercing blue eyes of his.
Her breath hitched in her chest as a wave of memories swept her. Their brief staring contests in their cells.
The way he had her eyes on her."Scarlett, this is another one of the bozo's here at the asylum. Stay away from him. He has absolutely no control nor regard for human life." Ivy warned as they settled at the table.
Scarlett sat right next to Ivy across from him.
His eyes scanned her carefully, and he was unknowingly frowning at them.Ivy noticed the awkward glances and scowled at Joker.
"What the hell is your problem?" She bit.He turned to her and smiled.
"You know, Pammy, it's incredibly rude not to introduce your friends to one another." He smirked."No way, clown, I won't let you mess this one up too. She's my friend, mine." Ivy whispered loudly.
The Joker turned to the girl and looked at her again.
He grinned at her, watching her eyes stare deeply back into his.
And in truth, Scarlett was really into the clown prince. The way his eyes stared back into hers, the way he grinned, his outlandish looks. He was attractive in a very specific way and Scarlett kept living in her memories, the way this quiet man would look in his cell. Withdrawn. In his own world.
