New friendships

The walk to the green house was uncomfortable, for Dr. Quinzel at least. She observed the way Scarlett moved down the hall, swaying her hips, strutting confidently. It was completely opposite of what she had observed.

The shock therapy had done a number on her. She knew it was dangerous to administer such a harsh bout, but at the time she hadn't been thinking with her brain. She let her heart decide, which, by the looks of it, may have made things worse.

The doctor couldn't help the scowl on her face when she noticed the other patients catcalling and hollering at Scarlett, who giggled and ignored them. Once they were at the greenhouse, Dr. Quinzel pushed open the door and the pair were met with the woman tending the room.

Ivy turned to face the new visitors and smiled sweetly at them.

"Oh, Dr. Quinzel, come on in. And who do we have here?" Ivy asked, as she put down a potted plant and faced the women.

"This is our newest patient, Scarlett. Dr. Arkham suggested she come down here to spend time with you, seeing as both of you have a love for plants. This could be a groundbreaking way of treating patients. Everything beyond this point is experimental, but i'll leave you two ladies here for a bit until I check on a patient. I'll be back soon." Dr. Quinzel said and walked out.

Scarlett smiled at Ivy before walking towards her, looking down at the potted plant she had been holding.

Ivy smiled down at her and felt the need to tell her about it.

"That's called the Death Camas, poisonous to livestock, they're-"

"Perennials. Bulbous, from the liliaceae family. Judging by its size, i'd say this one in particular is barely a year old. Impressive." Scarlett smiled up at her.

Ivy smirked. "Wow, that's completely textbook but I'm still impressed. You got the age down to the T, too."

"Well," Scarlett began, "I'm mostly an expert on poisonous plants. They were the subject of my undergraduate studies, not impressive to you i'm sure, but it was my world. It's the only thing I can remember before it all goes dark."

Ivy sighed. She could tell by her tone that there was a trauma Scarlettwas suffering through. She felt compelled to offer her help.

"Goes dark?" Ivy asked.

"I...I arrived here a little over a week ago. For some reason, after our very first session, Dr. Quinzel ordered an emergency administration of shock therapy." Scarlett spoke, catching Ivy by surprise.

"What?" Ivy asked in disbelief.

Shock therapy was reserved for the borderline insane, lunatics completely disconnected from reality. Those who saw no results from other methods of therapy.

People like the clown, who totally deserved it, in her opinion.

But this young woman? She seemed so bright and collected, nothing like the clown and his fiendish tendencies. Yet, they were locked up in a mental institution, she couldn't have been a saint either.

"Yeah..I'm not sure why but here we are. The last thing I remember is Dr. Quinzel's session, being dragged down that hall..the pain...and piercing blue eyes."  Scarlett said in a daze.

"Blue eyes?" Ivy asked. Must be a lover.

"Yeah, it's strange. But I don't dwell on it for long. I had lost a good chunk of my memory to begin with, and after the electroshock, I lost the very few I had kept." Scarlett sighed, shaking her head.

"I'm so sorry to hear this.." Ivy said apologetically.

"It's fine," Scarlett smiled, "It'll be alright. Right?"

"Of course. From now on you could stick with me. I'm sure being here together will keep whatever ounce of sanity we have left," Ivy giggled.

Dr. Quinzel adjusted her glasses as she walked to her office. She felt the anger within her rise. There was a totally unexpected side-effect in the shock therapy she had assigned Scarlett and she needed to find a way to reverse it.

Drugs?
More shock therapy?
Her therapy sessions? Brainwashing?

Her mind was all over the place. How would she go about finding a solution for this?

And how the hell would she be able to keep her away from the Joker? She posed a greater threat now. She had read all about how like-minded people would experience instant attraction, one didn't need to research much into it. It was nature. And with her position in the asylum, she couldn't have been further from being the one he'd be attracted to.

They hadn't even fucked since the last time he demanded answers about Y/n. Oh how irritated she felt since then.

Once she was in her office, she slumped down in her chair. She was supposed to be in a session right now, a quick 15 minute filler with the Joker, but she decided against it. She didn't want to face him right now, like this. At this magnitude of anger.

Her eyes found a stack of Manila folders sitting on her desk and she flipped the one on the very top open. It wasScarlett's file. There was only one sheet of paper in it. A report of why she was brought in along with a headshot of her, fingerprint, and general information like her birthday and first name.

Reading over the list of offenses, the doctor winced.

Threatening people.
Killing people.
Robbery.
Grand theft.
Mob ties, even.

It was impressive that a woman like herself had gotten into so much trouble, had gotten away with so much before being busted for it and consequently being brought here.

She closed up the file.

She has to find out more about her.

157, 158, 159...

The joker counted mentally as he did push ups in his cell. Beads of sweat rolled down the tip of his nose and onto the concrete below him.

He could feel the burn in his arms and abs. While he wanted the exercise, he needed the distraction. Every so often his mind would wander to Scarlett. He had tried to convince himself that she was dead but he knew better.
The voices wouldn't let him believe that either.
They danced around in his head convincing him that he was a fool for even thinking she'd be gone.
He had a feeling about her.

But now he felt eyes on him.
He began to grunt with each pull, feeling his arms about to give out.
He swiftly got to his feet and was trying to catch his breath, wiping his forehead.
He looked to the side and saw Dr. Quinzel watching him.

He grinned at her, making her heart beat faster. Oh how she adored him still, how she wanted him.
Over and over again.

"Good timing, doc," he snickered as he sauntered to her direction, "catching me when I'm hot." He reached down and grabbed his manhood from the outside. The scrubs easily outlined his swollen member, making the doctor bite her lips in need.

"Well, this isn't that kinda meeting," the doctor giggled. "I just wanted to check up on you. See if you needed anything."

"Oh there is something I need, doctorrr," he purred, shifting his weight and leaning over the glass wall ahead of him.

Harleen giggled and leaned over as well. The only thing keeping them apart was the wall.

"And what might that be?" She asked.

"Scarlett."
