~Maka's perspective~
We sat everyone down in Kids office so we could talk. Apparently when he started getting the nightmares, he set up a protection spell on the room so that the Empress wouldn't be able to get into his head as he set a plan of attack. I can't believe he's been hiding this from me for months, I know all he wants to do is save me but I can't help but feel like there is more to the story than what he is leading on.
Phoenix sits on my right side while Kid sits on the left. Around us we had the rest of the gang; Blackstar sat with Tsubaki, Blair sat next to them, Liz and Patty were to the left of Kid, and even Soul showed up for the battle. I guess even though Soul is a total creep we need all of the help we can get. Kid starts to explain that a few years ago his mom had gone missing in the middle of the night. As Kid states this I notice Phoenix roll her eyes and grab my hand. Kid continues, " Three days after my mom went missing we got a letter from her stating that she was in big trouble and in need of help. That is where everything took a turn for the worse. You see, my mom had a very close friend who was very powerful. Because she was more powerful than me or my dad, I suggested we go to her for help." Kid pauses and lets out a deep sigh. "We asked for her help..." he continued "We asked for her help and set off to find my mom. Along the journey we grew tired and fell asleep in one of the safehouses that belonged to my family for many years. In the middle of our rest, I woke up to the sound of my moms friend screams. I had rushed down as fast as I could but it was too late." He takes in a deep breath and closes his eyes, "Her blood was all over the front room but she was nowhere to be found." Kid stops talking for a moment and looks as if the entire events of that night were rushing through his head and he searches for what to say next.
I take this moment of silence to look around the room. Everyone's face was covered with sorrow and pity for Kid. Everyone's except Phoenix's. I looked like the more Kid talked about that night the more frustrated she got. I could tell she was only still in this room because my life was on the line.
Kid speaks again, "After that it was just me and my dad and we had to find them both. We end up at this giant castle and find a way in through one of the drains that opened up from a lake just outside of the castle. Everything was dark as we walked the long drain until the drain filled up with smoke and we blacked out. When I came to, I was tied down to a floor in a room with no light. Echoes of my mothers screams shattered through all of the walls from what sounded like every direction. I screamed for her but as my voice reached the walls of the room everything went silent. A slim crack of light suddenly appeared and thats when I first heard the Empress's horrid laugh." He closes his eyes again, only this time it looks like hes trying to remember what happened next. He sighs, "That's everything I remember. I don't know what happened to my mom or her friend, I don't even remember how we got away. After her laugh, theres nothing. But we hid, after those events we ran and started a new life. Now she's found us and is after me. She wants to kill Maka and destroy everything I love." A tear rolls down his face but he keeps himself together as much as he can.
"So what you're saying is we have no idea what we just signed up for?" Blackstar's voice interrupts the emotional silence and Tsubaki slaps his arm. Phoenix is the next person to break the silence, "Look," she stands up and steps to the center of the room, "This is as dangerous as it comes, but you can't tell me that each one of you could live without Maka. We all have some sort of connection with her. And you couldn't tell me she would hesitate to save all of your sorry asses if she was given the chance. I know that I might seem like a problem to all of you because of my history with Kid but you can bet your asses you will see me on the battle ground fighting till the end for her. So what's it gonna be, are you out or are you ready to kick some witches ass?!" Everyone cheers at Phoenix's speech and we set up to figure out a plan.
