Chapter 68. The Apes Are Back

"I went from enction to food stamps
To bagging work, wet and damp
To passport flooded with stamps

                     Narrator POV
     Caesar and Malcolm both hear faint hooting from outside.
     Caesar stood up and went towards the window, looking out.
     Caesar saw some of his fellow apes. Malcolm stood behind him and saw them as well.
     Malcolm and Caesar both headed outside. The apes went up to Caesar.
     Caesar placed a hand on Blue Eyes and greeted the other apes.
     Ellie, Alex, Valentine and Carla went over there to see what was going on.
     "They need to get to the tower without being seen." Malcolm said.
     "I'm gonna take them through the subway." Malcolm said. He kissed Ellie. They hugged.
     Ellie sighed. "I love you." She said.

     'Koba sent for the females and young. They're on their way. Mother too.'  Blue Eyes signed.
     Caesar turned to Malcolm.
     "Must go. Now!" Caesar said.

     "You okay?" Malcolm asked one of the apes.
     They all heard gunshots. Once they did, they all stopped and took cover.
     "Who's there? If you're human, you better say so!"
     "It's me! It's Malcolm! Don't shoot!" Malcolm responded.
     "Valentine is here as well!" Valentine said.
     "Stairs. Take the stairs. They'll bring you around and up under the street, okay? Go." Malcolm said, low enough so the apes could hear.
     Caesar looked at the other apes before looking back at Malcolm.
     "Thank you." Caesar said.
     "Trust." Malcolm said and nodded.

     The apes then headed up the stairs.
