Chapter 8

In the last class of the day, Elias gave Ezzy his cell phone number and she gave hers to him.

When she and Venus entered their house, Venus was screaming at Ezzy, and Ezzy wasn't paying attention.

"I can't believe you would do that to your own sister. I thought after what you told me the first day of school everything was going to be good between us, but obviously they aren't. You're a whore. You stupid bitch. I hate you," Venus said.

"You'll get the hell over it," Ezzy said making her way up the stairs.

"You are the worst sister in the universe. I can't believe you would do that to your own blood."

"SHUT UP!" Ezzy screamed in her face. "He asked me, I didn't ask him. Now suck it up and go get a life away from me," she said.

"What's going on here?" Evelyn asked coming into sight.

"Your little Ferocious Beast here is mad because Elias Noapte asked me out on a date and she's jealous because I said yes after a week of him begging me," she said showing her the white and red roses in her hand.

Evelyn had an awe attack. "Did he really?" she asked in the highest voice she could manage.

"I got chu; I'm grounded for three weeks. I'll get started on my homework right away. No questions asked. Got it," Ezzy said making the rest of her way up the stairs and into her room. "And no TV either. Don't worry mom, I'll obey." She slammed the door to her room and said, "Grr I'm furious because you grounded me."

Venus and Evelyn just looked at each other skeptically.

"Alright, what just happened?" Evelyn asked.

"I don't know, but I think she just grounded herself. We should leave the Psychotic Beast alone for the rest of eternity," Venus replied.

"Grrrrrrr!!!!" Ezzy screamed through the door while clawing it, effortlessly.

"Go do your homework, Venus."

"Fine....."

Both of them made their way upstairs and Venus went to her room and Evelyn went to Ezzy's room. She knocked on the door and Ezzy answered, "I have a lot of homework, Venus. I don't have time for a jealousy game. I will win."

"It's me," Evelyn said.

"Oh, okay. Hang on." Ezzy got off her bed and went over to unlock and open the door.

"Can I come in?" Evelyn asked.

"Sure," Ezzy said going back to her bed and sitting on it.

"What was that all about?" Evelyn asked closing the door behind her.

"I don't like being the center of attention at all. It bothers the shit out of me, especially if it's over a guy. It's stupid."

"Oh, sorry, it's just Elias is a good boy. I've known him..."

"For a long time, like his dad, I know. Don't worry about it."

If only you knew, Evelyn thought and Ezzy heard. She squinted her eyes at her mother. "Well, you're ungrounded and you can go on that date."

"I don't think I couldn't not go. He stood in front of everyone in the cafeteria with his friends singing a song for me and giving me these roses."

"That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard a werewolf do."

"A what?"

"Werewolf, that's how we said boy back in my day," she said.
