I sit in my office looking down at the bandage around my hand. I feel on it and pull a face. Maybe I should have gone to the hospital. It's a pretty deep cut, and there might be glass still stuck in there. I shake my head and sigh.
I've got a long sleeved shirt on today to cover up the marks on my wrists but they keep riding up. I pull them down and get back to typing up. I try to forget about last night and focus on my work.
Lunch time comes around and there's a knock on my door.
"Yes?" I call out.
The door opens and Marcus walks in holding a huge bouquet of different coloured roses. He shuts the door behind him and shows half a smile. I look at him not saying a word. It's silent for a few seconds and I look back at my laptop. He walks over to me and rests the flowers on my desk.
"I'm sorry baby." He says softly.
I look up at him, still keeping quiet. He looks at me pulling a face.
"I know flowers won't make up for it-"
"You're damn right they won't." I hit back at him.
"Please I'm really sorry I don't know why I got as mad as I did yesterday. I know you love me, and I love you so much." He sits on the end of my desk, making me look at him.
He holds my bad hand gently looking me in the eyes. He looks like he is about to cry.
"Do you love me though Marcus? This isn't first time..."
"Of course I love you, I don't want you to ever doubt that. I'm truly sorry for what I did, and I promise it won't happen again. I don't mean to hurt you."
"You said that the last time and I really thought you wouldn't hurt me again."
"I know I'm sorry." He puts his head down. "I feel shit for what I've done to you. You're beautiful, I shouldn't be like this with you." He goes to tuck a piece of hair behind my ear and I flinch out of instinct.
He sighs.
"You said you would get help if it happened again Marcus. I'll believe you once you get the help you need."
"I will, I promise I'll look into it."
I sigh looking down. He cups my face in his hand and lifts my chin up. He kisses me gently and looks in to my eyes.
"I love you." He says quietly.
I pause and show a weak smile.
"I love you too." I say almost through a whisper.
He smiles and kisses me again.
"I also promise to run things by you more ok? This is your business as much as it is mine and I get that. I just get carried away sometimes. I'm sorry."
I nod slowly.
"Do you still believe I like Michael like that though?"
"No, and I'm sorry again about that..."
"Because I don't, and I swear I haven't cheated on you with him. Why would I?"
He nods and goes silent.
"I know, I was an idiot last night. Can you forgive me?"
I hesitate and look away from him.
"Only if you get help this time."
"I will, I'll talk to someone. I promise you that."
"Ok.." I say quietly.
He smiles.
