A few days later we finally were in Iowa, we had checked out of the hotel that we had in Minneapolis at around ten, and decided that we would drive to my house and the boys and Meredith would stay while the crew stayed at a hotel nearby so the next day we could get going to Des Moines.
The drive was about four hours so it wasn't that bad. I sat and watched Chopped with Meredith and we laughed at what they called the mystery ingredients. The guys thought we were insane.
When we got to my house the guys, Meredith, and I took our stuff off the bus and I unlocked the door my house and stepped in. Everyone else gaped at my house and how large it was I just smiled and broke the silence.
"Andy, Meredith, I suppose you'll share a room?" I asked, they nodded. "Go down this hall, the last door on your left." I pointed and they went. I turned to Joe and Pete. "Joe, down this hall, last door on right. Pete, down this hall, second door on the right." I said and they smiled before wheeling their things down the hall. Patrick looked confused. "Where am I?" He asked. "Upstairs." I stated before grabbing my own case and starting up the stairs. He followed me down the up stairs hallway. I got to the last door, turned to him and smiled, then opened the door. He gaped at my room like it was some new animal he'd never seen before, or some new guitar riff. I set my things down and looked at Patrick, he was still standing in the doorway. I laughed before opening the window. "Come on, set your stuff down, everyone's probably waiting for us." I said. He did so and we walked down the stairs together. Sure enough everyone was sitting in the living room waiting for us.
"You guys up for food?" I asked. They all said yeah. "Why don't I call my mom and see if we can eat at my parents place?" I questioned. They said I could so I told them to do whatever as I walked into the kitchen and dialed my mom before jumping on the counter and sitting there.
"Ashton!" My mom exclaimed as she picked up the other line. "Mom! So I have a question." I started. "Shoot." She said. "It's the day before the Des Moines show and I'm wondring if it'd be okay if the guys, Meredith, and I could come over to eat?" I asked. "Of course!" She exclaimed. "I'll make veggie soup." She declaired. "No chicken broth, no cream, Andy and Meredith are Vegan." I stated.
"Got it, it'll be done around four." She said. "Okay, love you mom." I said. "Love you too Ashton." She said before I ended the call. I jumped off the counter and back into the living room. Somehow Pete and Joe found out I have a Nintendo 64 and got it to work and were playing some serious Mario. I chuckled at the sight and sat down next to Patrick.
"So?" He asked. "We're going to my parents place to eat." I nodded. Joe and Pete both finally died and I piped up. "We got some time, who wants to see my studio?" I asked. Instantly the guys were paying attention. "I'll take that as a yes." I laughed.
I descended the stairs into my dimly lit studio and flicked on more lights. The guys were in awe at all my instruments and electronics I had lying around. I walked over to the sound booth and turned it's lights on. "This is where Neon Smoke was written, composed, and recorded." I smiled. Everyone was in awe. Patrick had found himself looking at my guitars, especially my purple one. Pete found my basses and was looking at the models. Joe was looking at my electronics and Andy looked at my two sets I had. Meredith was infatuated with my piano the most, I had painted it a long time ago like the Starry Night painting.
"Hey! What's this I see?" Patrick exclaimed, breaking the silence. He was in one of my music libraries where I kept some old instruments, specifically my Stump-O-Matic. I laughed, and so did everyone else. "I bought it a long time ago, and played it a lot, I don't think it even works anymore. Hold on." I said before grabbing the guitar, walking into the sound booth, closing the door, and plugging the guitar into one of my amps. I played the opening to Sixteen Candles and it worked. I beamed at everyone who was standing on the other side of the glass. "This is so sick!" I exclaimed. Everyone laughed. I walked out and put the guitar back in it's place. I went back into the main area and they were huddled around my  piano.
"Woah." Andy breathed. I smirked and leaned against the side of the piano. "Bought her a few years ago, painted it just a year ago." I stated. "Where's the instruments from Neon?" Joe asked. Those instruments were lined with neon lights and painted with black light paint. "The piano was smashed, though I saved some pieces. Both my acoustic and electric guitars are in the same closet that Patrick was in. Liam's drums were trashed, Kaleb gave his bass to a museum, and Sean kept his guitar for himself." I listed. They all nodded.
We went back upstairs and I checked the time. 3:50. "Who wants food?" I asked. They all cheered. "Then lets go!" I exclaimed before grabbing the keys to my other car and driving to my childhood home.
