We continued tour with Panic! and lets just say, it was the best time of my life. I liked having a new set of people to mess around with and go out with. Don't get me wrong, the guys are fun, but new people is more exciting.
One day, I believe we were in Georgia, I went to soundcheck only to see a panicking Brendon. I walked over to him with concern written all over my face. "What's wrong beebs?" I asked him. He looked at me with pure panic. "Kenny is sick and we don't have a guitar player to fill in. The nearest filler lives in Florida and we can't get him a ticket." He starts to ramble. I thought a hard second before agreeing on it. "I could play for you." I said. He looked at me in shock. "Really? You'd really do that? Play two sets?" He asked. "Yeah, of course! It'll only be for about three days, right? Kenny'll get better by then." I reasured him, but I also was reasuring myself in the process. I was hoping it'd only be for three days, but who knows, Kenny could be sick for a week. "Thanks Ashy." He smiled and ruffled my hair. "Shh! They don't know my name yet!" I said frantically, looking around for any signs of the guys. "Why?" He asked. "I-I, I just don't feel comfortable yet. Plus my band was pretty big back then, and they would recongize my name immedatly." I reasoned. "So, you don't want them to know?" He asked, confused. "Yes!" I exclaimed. "Alright, but you tell them soon, or else I will." He winked before walking away.
I walked back to the bus and checked the time first, five o'clock. Eh, if Patrick isn't awake who cares. I burst onto the bus and slammed the door as loud as possible. "GUESS WHO'S PLAYING TWO SETS TONIGHT?" I yelled. I was in the living room and everyone stopped dead in their tracks. Andy looked at me, Pete and Joe stopped playing their video game, and Patrick dropped his tea bag. "You?" Pete asked. I nodded. "But, for who?" Andy asked while Patrick picked up his teabag. "Kenny got sick, so I'm filling in as long as I need too." I explained before throwing myself next to Andy. "You sure about that?" Andy asked as Joe and Pete continued their game. "Of course." I said with mental uncertainty. "What ever floats your boat." Pete said without looking away from the game. I nodded and pulled out my phone to scroll through instagram.Later that night I had dressed in all black as Sarah Urie had told me to do and she did my makeup. Just a little eyeliner and a black lip, she also fixed my hair up. I thanked her and went to grab my guitars and set them by the stage. I walked into the boys' room and grabbed my guitars, slipping my black-marbled one over my head.
"You sure you wanna do this?" Patrick asked out of the blue, the guys looked up, waiting for an answer. "Yeah, plus I can't really back out now." I said before grabbing my red-striped guitar and heading out the door. I went to the stage and handed the crew my red guitar and heard the roar of the crowd.
I felt a tap on my shoulder to see a smiling Zack. "They're gonna do pre-show shots and I remembered you don't drink, what would you like?" He asked kindly. Honestly, it's been so long, I didn't think he'd remember I don't drink. "Ginger ale, if it's possible, but any soda or water is good enough for me." I said. "Thanks, they're out on the steps by the way." Zack pointed before leaving to fill the shot glasses. I went to the steps and sure enough there was a Dan, Dallon, and Brendon talking amongst themselves. Dallon noticed me and smiled. "Two shows one night, eh?" He asked. "Yup, hopefully for a few days." I breathed. They all laughed. We were talking for a little bit before Zack came around with our shots. We all thanked him and held our drinks up. "Thanks Ashy, for filling in." Brendon smiled. "It's nothing." I insisted. "For Ashton!" Dallon yelled. We all drank our shots and climbed the stairs to the stage. Dan got set while the lights were dark, and I started the guitar riff, the lights came up, and Don't Threaten Me With a Good Time came on, and on the show went. Its been a while
