We had Thanksgiving with Patrick's family before going back to tour, and they liked me a lot. They were very funny and loud, no anger or hate I don't think. Nothing like my family.
When we went back on tour Meredith did not join us, she decided to stay home and work, which I was sad about because now I was the only girl on tour. I got over it and got into the swing of things.
The first show back was in Ohio and it was snowing. There wasn't even snow in Illinois or Iowa yet, so that took us all by surprise even though we had all packed winter clothing.
Before the show even started, we all went out and had a snowball fight. Joe's hair was littered with snow bits, Pete was laughing his ass off at a Patrick who had fallen over from the force of one of Pete's snowballs, Andy was making a small snowman, and I was making more snowballs. I was in the process of making one when I got a snowball right in my face. I was wearing my glasses, too. I looked up and around for the guilty culprit and saw Pete looking at me like he had made the biggest mistake of his life. I got up and dusted the snow off of myself before grabbing two snowballs, and running after Pete.
"I'M SORRY!" He yelled as I chased him around the lot. "SORRY ISN'T ENOUGH WENTZ!" I yelled back while the others laughter was heard from behind us. I got about a meter away before jumping on him and stuffing both snowballs down his coat. "WHY?" He yelled as he tried to get the slushy snow out of his jacket. "Why not?" I asked while laughing. When the show was over, I got to the bus and made us all hot chocolate because it was blistering cold outside and the walk from the venue to the bus was actually very long and windy.
The guys climbed on the bus one by one and accepted the steaming mugs I handed them as they walked passed.
I finished my own mug, washed it, and set it in its cupboard before wandering back to my bunk and crawling under the warm sheets. I laid there for a small while before pulling out a book and reading. I had just started the next chapter when there was a quiet knock on the frame of my bunk. I pulled back the curtain slightly only to find a glasses-less Patrick in his Batman pajamas smiling at me like an idiot. I pushed back the curtain more and let him crawl into the small space. He pulled the curtain back and laid his head on my chest while wrapping his hands around me. I smiled and laid back onto my pillow. We fell asleep like that. This part of tour was in the North Eastern part of the US so it was very cold.
During the sets we had Patrick would come back and dance with me a shit ton, which made me very happy, but the show in Maine caught me off guard and also by surprise.
We were in the middle of America's Sweethearts and everything was going swell, Patrick and I were dancing and Pete was smiling like an idiot, Joe was killing it, and Andy was having the time of his life on the drums. During the ending chorus was when it happened.
I was standing next to Patrick and harmonizing into his mic with him because my mic was far away and I was playing guitar, obviously, and as soon as he sang the last word, he grabbed me and kissed me smack-dab on the lips in-front of thousands of people. My notes had gone sour and I couldn't play the outro but the guys continued as the moment happened. Patrick stopped when the song fully ended and gave me a huge smile. I was blushing like a mad man as I ran back to my mic. I heard Andy laughing from behind me as we started the next song.
After the show I ran off stage and back into my room and locked the door. I slid down the back of the door and put my head in my hands, and screamed in delight.
I eventually stopped after five minutes to get clean. I stripped and hopped into the shower, humming songs as usual before getting out and changing into a red sweater and black sweatpants. I loaded everything onto our trailer before finally climbing onto the bus and slouching on the couch and watching Coraline. The guys walked on in twos and sat down to join me, Patrick found his way into my side and wrapped his arms around me as we watched the Tim Burton-styled movie.-DLJ
