01. Rainy Days

07/04/18 - 1 year, 1 week a/b (after breakup)

It was raining. I was soaked, and my hair was sticking to my face. Of course, on a day like that day, I would forget my coat.

Whenever it used to rain, Alex and I would walk back to our block of flats together and we'd share his black umbrella. We'd even found flats in the same building so we'd have a friend, but still have our privacy.

I saw Alex in front of me, using the black umbrella. Too timid and scared to say anything, to reminisce, I remained silent, just watching him from behind.

Even when it was required to discuss with those around us in the lectures and seminars, Alex and I would sit in a cold, empty silence. He hadn't said a word since the breakup. I knew that he was Will's friend first, but I thought we were close too. I guess we weren't as close as I had thought.

As he went into the building, I saw George and Josh waiting there for
him in the lobby. He whispered something to them, and they looked at me in disgust. Looking at the ground, I walked by as I felt their stares. I heard them whispering and talking quietly.

Stepping into the lift, I felt a tear fall down my cheek as I pressed the button to my floor and the doors closed. I allowed myself one glance at the boys, who were laughing. I wished I could've been laughing with them.

I unlocked my door and just sat on my sofa in silence, listening to the rain as it pounded against my window.

I grabbed my laptop from my coffee table and put it on my lap, opening YouTube. I never knew what to watch, so I'd just look at the home page and see what was recommended. I just needed to relax.

"That's enough YouTube for today," I whispered, defeated, yet slightly angry. The rain had done no good for my feelings that day, but it didn't change anything.

It didn't change the fact that I missed Will.
