Family

"Hey Maggie, where's Jacob?" Eliza asked the charge nurse as both twins walked into the ed.
"In here." Maggie replied as she led them into a waiting room that contained the majority of intelligence, minus Upton, Halstead and Kyle, as well as Jacob.
"How's Kyle?" Logan Asked Jacob.
"They took him straight into surgery." Jacob replied, both of Logan's siblings could see him getting angrier.
"Did you catch the guy that did this?" Logan half shouted at Voight.
"Yupqu xefn" Eliza whispered to Logan, placing a hand on his forearm.
"If He was still alive do you think we would all be here?" Voight stated calmly.
"Wheres Jay and Hailey?" Eliza asked as she sat in a chair next to Logan.
"Haileys getting stitched up." Ruzek said.
"I've just got to go check on a patient." Jacob said as he stood up, placing a kiss on Eliza's head and ruffling Logan's hair on his way out. Technically he was telling the truth even if it wasn't 100% true Jacob thought as he made his way up to the OR his brother was in and went into the viewing area. He sat watching the small screen that gave a closer look to what the on call trauma surgeon, Connor Rhodes, was doing. He immediately regretted his choice to come up here as the monitor started beeping rapidly and Connor shouted "He's crashing!"

"Hey." Jay said to Logan and Eliza as he walked into the waiting room.
"How's Hailey?" Eliza asked.
"Protesting, she lost quite a bit of blood so Will wants to keep her overnight." Jay explained. "They're moving her into a room now. Any word on Kyle?" He added.
"Nothing yet." Eliza said.

Jacob stood there frozen, watching through the glass as the surgeon began cpr on his brothers lifeless form. He didn't even realise that someone else had entered the room until the familiar voice spoke.
"Hey." Will said, placing a hand on his arm and turning him away from the window.
"Hey." Jacob said quietly. "I should probably go back to the waiting room."
"Yeah you should." Will said as the younger doctor walked away. "Any updates for the family?" Will asked over the intercom.
"One bullets out, the other is pressing against an artery but we're doing everything we can." Connor said as the monitor began to show a steady heartbeat again.

Will headed back down to the waiting room and conveyed that to everyone.
"What does that mean?" Logan Asked. "Is he gonna make it or not?"
"It means they're doing everything they can." Jacob explained bluntly. "So he's stable?" Jacob asked Will.
"Right now he is." Will said knowing the last thing Jacob had seen was them doing compressions.

As the day turned into night, Kyle was still in surgery, Intelligence had gone home and Hailey was asleep in her room. The three siblings were still in the waiting room, Eliza asleep with her head on an awake Logan's lap and Jacob sat watching the world go by outside the glass door.
"Jacob." Connor said as he entered the room.
"Is he okay?" Jacob asked, his eyes frantically searching for an answer in the doctors face as Logan woke Eliza up.
"He's just got out of surgery and we're moving him into the ICU." Connor explained.
"Can we see him?" Logan Asked.
"Follow me." Dr Rhodes said with a nod.

"Hey Ky." Eliza said as she pulled a seat up next to her brothers.
"Jay and Voight told us what happened, we just need you to wake up." Logan Said watching as Eliza took Kyles hand.
"Haileys fine, they're keeping her overnight for observation so she'll be here in the morning." Jacob said.
"Logan tried to have an argument with Voight earlier." Eliza said with a smile.
"I did not." Logan protested, Eliza turned slightly to face him with a questioning but smug look.
"He did." Jacob said.
"I could take both of you out in ten seconds." Logan warned.
"I'd like to see you try." Eliza teased.
"No... fighting.." Kyle whispered, squeezing Eliza's hand.
"Hey, take it easy." Jacob said as he tried to sit up. "I'm pretty sure you should not be awake this fast." Jacob added reaching for the oldest Chambers charts. "Any pain?" He asked as he placed the chart back where he'd found it.
"Nope, stop fussing." Kyle said. "How bads it?"
"Pretty bad, two GSW to the torso." Jacob gave the most basic explanation possible.
"And Hailey?" Kyle asked.
"Just flesh injuries, she'll probably have a fair few scars but she's fine." Jacob said.
"What time is it?" Kyle asked as Eliza yawned.
"Half eleven." Logan answered, placing a hand on his sisters back.
"I won't try and send you home." Kyle said, moving along the bed away from the twins with a small wince before rearranging all the wires so there was a space next to him. "Come here." He said to Eliza who hesitated before slipping into the bed next to him. The heat of her brothers body helping to reassure her that he was okay.
