Helping

That night everyone in the house headed into their bunks and most were asleep in seconds after having a long call earlier that day. Eliza lay with her eyes wide open staring at the ceiling. She stayed like this for a few hours before eventually giving up on the idea of sleep for something like the fourth night in a row and got up silently and heading back into the common room. Once she was alone in the room she ran a hand through her hair whilst waiting for the coffee to boil. Once it was ready and she had poured it into a cup she took a seat where she could see every door so no one could creep up on her. Eliza was sat with her hands wrapped around the mug when a figure approached from the bunk room.
"Hey." Logan said calmly, so not to startle his already jumpy twin.
"Hey, why aren't you asleep?" Eliza asked.
"Do you remember when I broke my arm at football practice and you knew something was wrong? Well that's how I feel right now. I know you're hurting but I don't know what I can do to help." Logan Said, sitting opposite her at the table.
"I just want everything to be normal again, I want to be able to sleep." Eliza said, her grip on the coffee cup tightening.
"When was the last time you actually slept?" Logan Asked, when their parents left Eliza had grown up to be a motherly figure to Jacob and Logan whilst Kyle became the father. Jacob was the smart, responsible one and Logan was the one who could always put a smile on your face no matter how badly your day was going. But right now it was Eliza who looked like a lost child, something no one had seen from her in 18 years.
"Thursday night, I think." Eliza said slowly.
"El..." Logan Said slowly, taking the coffee away from her. "You need to get some proper sleep."
"I can't, every time I close my eyes I see him. I don't want to see him." Eliza said shakily.
"Come here." Logan Said, channelling his inner Eliza and leading her towards the couch. "I'm right here and I'm not going anywhere, you try and get some sleep." He Said, letting her sit down before sitting next to her and draping his arm over her shoulders. A few silent minutes later and Eliza allowed herself to trust him to keep her safe, Something she never thought she would be able to do again. She snuggled into his side, putting her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.

"What are you guys doing in here?" Hermann Asked.
"Sshh." Logan Said quietly raising a finger to his lips. Hermann nodded knowingly, grabbed what he had came in for and crept back out. Logan was just going back to sleep when Eliza started to move.
"Josh, no, no, please." She muttered. "Get away from me." She Said, her voice growing slightly louder.
"Hey, El, wake up." Logan Said, rubbing her arm slowly. "El." He said slightly louder as she continued through the nightmare.
"Josh..." She said quietly as her eyes flashed open.
"He's gone, you're safe, I got you." Logan Said wrapping his arms tightly around her as her slim frame began to shake with tears. "I've got you." Logan Said, running a hand through her hair.
"How long was I asleep for?" Eliza asked as she pulled away a few seconds later.
"Like 5 or 6 hours." Logan Said looking at the clock.
"Where is everyone?" She Asked, looking at the clock and realising it was almost 7 and most of the guys would be up by now normally.
"Pretty sure Hermann's holding them all hostage somewhere." Logan Said with a smile.

"Okay, this is the reason we all still live together." Eliza said as she looked around the apartment.
"Yeah..." Logan Said, looking around at all the discarded trash and general mess.
"You go get some sleep." Eliza said to Logan as she headed to get a trash bag.
"No, I'll stay and help." Logan protested.
"We both know I'll get more done if you're not here so skidaddle." Eliza said, Logan looked at her defeated, knowing she was right but also knowing he wanted to help her in any way possible. "Can you go round the house and find any dishes, cups and that sorta thing and leave them on the kitchen counter?" She Said, realising he didn't want to leave her.
"Yes boss." He said mock saluting with a smile.
"What are you guys doing for Christmas?" Eliza asked as Logan brought back the first armful of plates.
"Me and Jake are staying here." Logan Said as he placed them down with a clatter.
"What about Kyle?" Eliza asked, confused as to why the oldest sibling wasn't mentioned as he was the only one that had never skipped out on a Christmas for a girl/boyfriend.
"We're pretty sure he's got a girl." Logan Said.
"Wait, what?" Eliza said with a smile, she couldn't recall Kyle being in a relationship over the past 18 years and she was happy for him.
"Yeah, he hasn't come home a few nights this past week." Logan Said, leaning against the counter.
"Any guesses to who it is? If we know her?" Eliza asked as Logan leant against the counter.
"Nothing." Logan Said.
"You helping or distracting me?" Eliza said.
"Sorry boss." Logan Said before running out of the room making Eliza laugh slightly.

"So is it Anyone we know?" Eliza asked Kyle out of the blue as they sat around the table eating there first proper meal in weeks, for all four.
"What do you mean?" Kyle asked not even looking up.
"You don't think we haven't noticed you not coming home recently?" Logan Asked.
"It's a good thing if you are, I've been trying to set you up for years and the boys have been wing-manning you for just as long." Eliza said.
"It's early days, we're taking it slowly." Kyle said.
"So there is someone!" Eliza said happily.
"Do we know her?" Jacob repeated Eliza's original question.
"Maybe... yes." Kyle said.
"Does one of us work with her?" Logan Asked, desperately trying to work out who it was.
"When did this turn into an interrogation?" Kyle asked.
"That's so a yes." Jacob said with a smirk. "I would maybe even go as far as saying he works with her." He Said, earning himself a glare from Kyle.
"Who's single in Intelligence..." Eliza thought out loud.
"There's only Kim and Hailey." Logan Said.
"And I'm pretty sure Kim's still hung up on her ex." Jacob said, glancing at Eliza.
"Hailey." Eliza stated. All three pairs of eyes landed on Kyle who hesitated for a few moments before nodding slowly.
