Sabin couldn't help but feel like he was just put in the friend zone by this beautiful woman, "Wait did you just say you cherish me as a friend Alice?"

"Well of course I did Sabin... I mean we are only on a truce aren't we? We were just going to part ways when we killed Galen right?" Alice asked with her soft and sweet voice that almost sounded like heaven on his ears. To which Sabin could only nod his head and come up with a short response, "Yeah, I mean only if you wanted to that is..."

"You're just wasting your breath... She's not going to love you and you know it... However it would be nice... but you know you guys come from two different worlds... Plus she has that ex-boyfriend of hers, what makes you think that she's going to get rid of him?"

"I swear to all that is good, you demon bastard, if you keep this shit up... I will end you myself..." His arguing was cut short by Alice who was giving him a concerned look, "Sabin? Is everything alright? You're not falling for me are you?" Sabin felt his cheeks get warm and he was not sure how to respond to that, "No Alice... I'm just thinking about how we're going to destroy Galen so you can go to college or whatever..." Sabin said trying to cover up his voice so he sounded indifferent versus crushed, he really was falling for her. Someone who starred danger in the face and not bat an eye with such a fighting spirit was the person he fell in love with. He wanted Alice to be his and only his romantically of course he wasn't going to shelter her from making friends, he wasn't that kind of a person. He loves his freedom and he is confident that Alice enjoys hers, he isn't going to make Alice do something she doesn't want to do.

"Well I hope you aren't because that would have to mean you won't be focussed in your battle with Galen, especially if you will always be concerned for my safety... If you fall for me you'll be putting your fighting spirit on the line and make more decisions rashly instead of thinking about them..." Alice said and Sabin couldn't help but smile at this, she really is a fighter after all, with a great spirit, "even if I was falling for you... I am confident you can do anything you put your mind to Alice... You don't need me to babysit you... A relationship is where both parties have feelings for each other and each person in the system is confident in the other's skills and understands their weakness and supports them."

"Wow Sabin, that was oddly very beautiful... I didn't think you would be that sentimental as a Lord of the Underworld... I like that response though it is nice and it makes sense..." Alice's words were cut short by the sound of a ringing cell phone and Alice's disgusted groan, "I will be right back the damn male child is calling..." the vampire said holding up her phone. Sabin nodded his head and let her make her call and hope for the best that she would say something to keep him from calling her ever again. Once Alice was out of the room he went over to the door to listen in on the conversation, well on Alice's side, he couldn't hear the other person.

"Listen Adrian... I am sick of you calling me and constantly pestering me... We are never going to get back together and that is final... I'm tired of your excuses... I am not a blood bank for you to sell on the black market...!" Sabin heard Alice pause for a moment guessing this Adrian person was trying to come up with some lame excuse to win Alice back, After a long sullen silence he was confused did she hang up and she's taking a breather or something else, then he heard her voice again, "you changed my ass... That is what you said the last time and the time before that... I'm tired of it Adrian... Now hang up the phone and never talk to me ever again... I'm with another man now and he's a helluva lot better than you will ever be... Good-bye Adrian Ramirez..." Sabin was pulled back and he sighed softly, "so there is someone else isn't there Alice..."

"I'm sorry what was that Sabin?"

"Oh it's nothing just thinking... you did speak a little loudly... Is there really someone else?"

"No there isn't I just said that knowing he wouldn't like that idea and then hung up on him." Alice said with a smile and Sabin couldn't help but laugh at this, "so you lied... I thought you didn't have the nerve to lie at all in your whole body..."

"You'd be surprised what I can do Sabin..." she said looking at him before walking over to the bed and sitting down where Sabin joined her, "Care to tell me what he said Alice...?"

"Well to start things off when I answered the phone he responded with 'Hi Ali-Pie' I hate that nickname with a passion... Then he was telling me about how much he missed me and that things are not the same in Spain without me there... so much so, that he wants to just die without me there... Then he started trying to weasel a relationship out of me..."

"What was the blood bank comment you made about then Alice?" Sabin asked calmly seeing that the poor vampire was all worked up anyway, he didn't want to tread on any ground he shouldn't be. It took a little while for Alice to respond until she finally did, "oh you heard that too... Well... he used to give me his blood willingly, however, he would turn around and say that we needed some extra cash right after and since vampire blood is rumored to keep you alive and young longer everyone wants that... However the only way that vampire blood can do that is if the blood retrieved from the vampire is pure and innocent, which that blood is even more rare to come by, because that is only feasible if the victim is willing to give it freely by will. Since that is how I roll... Adrian would tell me we needed extra money and extract my blood putting everything he got in viles and go and sell it on the black market getting three million off of a single batch of fifteen viles... Which means he was getting at least two hundred thousand off of a single vile..."

"Even though that money is nice that isn't the way to use you Alice... Why did you put up with him for so long?"

"Because I wanted to feel loved Sabin... I thought that if he was willing to stay with me for being me then I was actually loved... I may have been one of the best Hunters Galen had but no one made me feel loved and accepted..." Sabin was watching Alice and noticed she was trying to hold back whatever tears she may have held in for the last ten years before she started talking again, "Adrian made me feel like I was something... he willing gave me his blood after I was starving myself when we first met, he always told me that I was worth something... I realize now that I was blinded by that affection he gave me from seeing the truth behind him... A lousy disgusting pervert who only cared about money and not me..." Alice finished and Sabin blinked away his surprise, this woman has been through so much the last ten years and she still can keep up that fighting spirit, now that was something even some of the strongest warriors have a hard time maintaining, yet here Alice is taking everything thrown at her with all of her strength, he wondered if she would ever fizzle out that strength.
