"My name is Elena by the way." the girl behind me said. The rest of girls followed suit right after introducing themselves.
One girl Charlotte had an American accent which I found strange since everyone else seemed to be from the Caribbean like I was.It was then I asked "Where were you all taken from?"
We all had the same answer. Trinidad.
Even Charlotte who informed us she was on vacation with her family.I sighed
"I've always heard stories of girls going missing and never being found. I never would have thought I'd be one of them." One of the girls sobbed as another tried to comfort her.
I felt a knot form in my throat remembering my parents always showing me stories similar to this and warning me to be careful.
I suddenly understood why they were so overprotective.
I'd always feel so annoyed every time they said things like "it's getting more and more dangerous out there everyday" or "one day you'd understand why we don't let you do as you like" They were right.
I understand now.
It took weeks of screaming and nagging to get them to agree to let me go that party and still they had no idea it was a pool party otherwise they would've never allowed me to go.
I can't imagine how terrified they must have been when they arrived to pick me up and I wasn't there.....
How heart broken they must be at this very moment, not knowing where I am or if I'm okay.
It's funny how I just took them all for granted.... Now it's very unlikely I'll ever see them again....
