On the bus ride home I sit next to Alec. He looks at me weird. "Are you sick?" He asks me.
"What?" I ask confused.
"Why are you sitting next to me?" Alec asks rather confused.
"Look I just wanted to thank you. You know for the whole Aiden thing," I say blushing.
"And I'm sorry for this morning. I shouldn't have said those things," he apologizes.
"It's okay," I say.
He coughs. "So would you like to go riding sometime?" He asks. I was taken aback. I mean I liked him, but that's a big deal. Like seriously. If a cowboy invites you to ride with him that's a big deal. "You don't have to if you don't want to," he says.
"No. Sure I will ride with you," I smile. He just grins. "Your place or mine?" I ask.
"Mine," he says. "I'll have jake pick you up since I'm not old enough to drive until august," he rolls his eyes.
"Yeah that's cool," I state.
"So I was wondering could I maybe you know, ride one of your horses?" He stutters.
"You can ride Dakotah, but there is no way in hell I am letting you ride magic," I say.
"Not to press, but why?" He asks curious. I sigh.
"I don't let anybody ride him. Never," I say.
"So nobody has ever ridden him but you?" He questions.
"Nope," I reply.
"Why?" He asks.
"He was my escape. I needed him and he was there for me. I didn't have Dakotah at the time, I love him to death, but we don't have the bond that magic and I have," I explain. "I have never let anybody ride him because I don't trust anybody. Magic is just to special for him to be messed around with," I say. I have no idea why I'm explaining myself to Alec,
But I am.
"Wow. Okay I'll ride Dakotah," he says.
"IF," I counter.
"Damn it. I was hoping there wouldn't be any of those," he groans.
"I want to drive your truck," I say.
"No way," he counters.
"Then you're not riding Dakotah," I say.
He just sighs and sits there thinking about it. "Fine," he sighs. I just grin in accomplishment. "Don't sit there and grin," he scolds me. I laugh.
"And why not?" I ask raising my eyebrows.
"It's annoying," he says irritated. I just laugh.
"Fine my house at 8," he says.
"Okay," I say. I am seriously excited about this.
