Chapter 35

I enter the body of another unknown body. Pain. I'm yet to work out how to stop myself from ever feeling their pain, so far, as I enter every single person I feel it. It's bad enough to make someone crazy.

Maybe I feel it for a reason; to make me truly want to help them. I don't know if I would be this committed if I could emphasise with their pain so strongly. Now, I push his pain away as to concentrate.

This man has an injury almost identical to one I earlier treated; the wound that my father had. I begin to close the particles using force magick, putting the hard pressure on his leg. It must hurt incredibly.

I continue knitting the layers together, occasionally having to use force to stop the blood from pooling inside of him. Flinging the blood out is something that I have the most trouble with, actually. I have to just get force under it and flick it out like it had bounced on a trampoline. It must hurt a lot, but I am not trained enough to levitate it.

I finally escape his body as I close the final layer of still alive skin. I look at his leg and see that the scar doesn't raise from the skin. I hope that's a good sign, and not one of me messing up underneath the skin.

I look around and see the final moments of the battle.

It's witches v witch. I can see that it's their leader, and she seems to have gathered immense amounts of power before the fight, to have held on for this long.

Finally, she falls. Her body collapses to the ground, limp. It's so graceful that it looks almost fake. I walk to the Queen, this time, unafraid to mind-link where everyone can hear.

Should I see if she is gone?

I suppose so. Her response is immediate.

I walk over to the body and place the back of my hand on her. She's still, and the last blow wasn't done by force, and so she looks completely peaceful. Even could be mistaken to be asleep.

But as soon as I try to enter her body, I know the results of the battle.

I fall back into the red-stained grass and stare up at the clear blue sky. It's beautiful, which is ironic considering what has happened today. "It's over," I speak aloud so that the wolves can also hear.

The fight didn't last long after we arrived. The Rogue witches had already lost much of their magic trying to kill the wolves, and some of them likely hadn't gathered much, as getting magick-storing material is hard without connections, and many witches wouldn't like to share those.

Cheers erupt throughout the field from witches and wolves alike. I stay silent, not able to feel relieved over a victory which we had to sacrifice everything for.

Half of the people I knew growing up died today.

Cassidy, still a pup. Many younger than her died today. Beta, he didn't like me but he was a good man. Jasmine, a lady I could call a motherly figure to me, after I lost my own.

And my mate. Alex. I suppose it would have been wors- "Violet, how are you doing? After Alex?" I hear his mother speak from behind me.

"Melissa. Shouldn't I ask you that? You lost so much more."

"I did lose my son. And my mate, but a part of him will always be with me," she points to the mark on her neck, "I can still be with him, in a way. You didn't. An unmarked mate is harder to lose, as you aren't a part of each other yet."

Her eyes look slightly glassy, and I know that it is harder for her than she is acting.

"Thank you, your majesty," in any other situation, I would snicker at my father bowing, "We are grateful for your help."

"No need for honorifics, Alpha. We are allies?"

"Yes, I suppose so. Although there aren't many of us left."

The Queen, or Sarah, as she has said to call her before (although I never could) chuckles, "Well, this'll take us both a lot to get used to."

"True." My father replies with a nod, and then the Queen walks away to speak to her advisors, and, surprisingly, Father turns to me.

"Violet, I'm sorry you had to leave, before. Although, you did need to learn control of your magic," We both shudder at the thought of if I hadn't, "We would allow you to return. To come home. I would like to have you back home."

I stand up, trying to brush the grass off my legs, but it sticks to my clothes and skin as the half-dried blood covers everything. I ponder what to answer, silent as I think.

I do consider the witch's estate to be home. I also love the library, and I have so many friends there. I could study my magic to a higher potential, and I would also have more options in life.

Yet... A part of me wants to return to my home. The memories would sting, but they need all the help they can get to rebuild. I could mourn him more easily, and help support them. They also do need an heir.

I finally decide on my answer, and then voice it to the world.

Hey, my terrific readers!

How was that for a final chapter? We do have an epilogue (don't be afraid).

Where do you think Violet will choose to go?

Also, is there anything you want to hear about in the Epilogue? Any short sweet pieces of info?

Anyway, thank you for getting this far in the book! We likely won't be seeing the last of these characters, but I don't believe after tomorrow there will be any more of Violet's perspective, though.

I dearly hope you enjoyed the chapter and that you will consider leaving a vote or comment! I'll be editing soon (well, already begun) so I'd love feedback!

Hope to see you in the Epilogue!!!
