Eight years....

Eight years is a long time to love somebody,

A long time to completely commit,

A long time to care.

Freshmen year of high school, that seems so long ago now.

I thought we were everything to each other, and I think we were for a while.

But after eight years,

something's changed, and it wasn't me.

It was you, it was all you.

I don't know what I started doing differently, I don't know what you saw in me that made you change.

Are you tired of me now?

Am I not the same guy you fell for in high school?

If it's true that your heart's somewhere else why don't you just tell me?

Why don't you be open, just let me know so, as much as it hurts, I can let you go.

I'll let you go if it will make you happy, if it will make you smile and laugh again like you used to, I'll let you go.

I'll say goodbye to my hope with no promise,

Even if I'm slow I will walk with my own feet,

Because I know this path is mine to take.

If we weren't meant to be, I'll accept that.
