Jimin

"Me and your father saw the pictures." My mother says as she sets a cup of tea in front of me.

"Did you?" I ask crossing my legs and looking up at her as she takes a seat across from me.

It's been a few days since Taehyung and I got back from our trip and the pictures people had taken were everywhere.

They were nice actually, we looked genuinely happy in them. So hopefully the suspension of our relationship being fake will die down.

"You guys looked great. Did you have fun?" She asks pouring sugar into my tea.

"I did." I say, which wasn't a lie, I did have fun seeing the ocean again.

"Where's Taehyung, he couldn't come today?" She asks, he never comes so why is she asking?

"Oh well he's busy. He had a lot of work to do before we left so." I say taking my cup and stirring it.

"Ah, I see." She says. "Next time then?"

I nod. "Next time."

Why does she always have to be in on my relationship? Can't she just focus on me as her son for once instead of constantly wondering why I wasn't attached to Taehyung by the goddamn hip?

We're older now, we're adults not kids in high school who can't be apart or left alone even for a second.

It's so annoying coming to see my mother just to end up talking about Taehyung the entire time.

I'm marrying him, aren't I? Isn't that enough to secure her and reassure her that she won't have to lift another finger for the rest of her fucking life?

"Is something bothering you, Adeul?" She asks noticing my change in expression.

"No, I just realized I had some work of my own to clear up." I say setting my cup down.

"It's not good to avoid your mother, I won't always be here." She says.

"I'm not. I haven't finished the manuscripts that need to be edited and turned in next week so, I'll be on my way." I say standing and bowing before turning to leave.

"One more thing, child." Mother stops me making me face her again. "Who's the man you went to see a while ago?"

"Excuse me?" I ask to be sure I heard her correctly.

"You know I keep rather close tabs on you, and not much you do goes unknown." She continues. "The man you met at the bar across town. Who was he?"

"You know Taemin, mother. He was one of my closest friends growing up." I say recalling the night.

"Yes, I know him but the public doesn't. And you know what would have happened if I didn't stop those stories from spreading? What would have happened if Taehyung found out there were rumors of infidelity in your relationship?" She asks standing up. "You're recklessness is unacceptable. You must use your brain and think sometimes."

"Excuse mother, but I think I am very well capable of thinking and using my brain. I met with an old friend to catch up, so what? If the rumors had spread they would have been just that, rumors. I would think Taehyung would have a little more sense than to believe them. And besides it would never even cross my mind to cheat on him because you don't do that to someone you love. So why don't you focus on your life for once and butt the hell out of mine. Now excuse me, I have work to do." I huff turning on my heels and walking to the door.

"Park Jimin." My mother calls making me stop no matter how much I want to storm out.

"What, mother." I ask not facing her, my hand resting on the door knob.

"You won't see that man again, or I'll take it to the Kims." She says in a low threatening voice.

"...yes mother." I say though it's barely even a whisper before I pull the door open and leave the office.

I keep my head down as tears start to well in my eyes. Why must she control everything I do? The people I see, the friends I make? Why can't I just live my own life on my own? Why can't I just~

My train of thought is cut off abruptly as I run into someone, that someone being Secretary Jeon again coincidentally.

"Oh, Mr. Park. I'm sorry." He says steadying me my by shoulders.

"No, it's fine. I should have been paying attention." I say, my voice strained from the tears forming as I still keep my head down.

"A-Are you crying?" Jeon asks crouching down a little to try and meet my eyes.

"No, no. I'm fine." I say even though it's an obvious lie.

"Are you okay? Should I lead you to Tae-, Mr. Kim?" He asks placing a hand on my back.

"No, Secretary Jeon. I'm fine really." I say stepping back a little. "Continue on with your day, work hard."

"I will, Mr. Park. Feel better, work hard." He responds smiling before turning and continuing down the hall.

I huff wiping my eyes and trying to suck it up at least until I get into my office.

I'm tempted to call and talk to Yoongi but I know he probably doesn't want to hear from me, he's been avoiding me lately and it's obvious.

    "Mr. Park."

I look up to find my secretary Kim Dahyun standing outside my office door.

"Yes, Secretary Kim?" I ask forcing a small smile.

"You have a missed call from Min Yoongi and a voice message left my Mr.~"

"Min Yoongi?" I ask again to be sure.

"Yes sir. And a voice message from~"

"I'll check the message later. I have to make an important phone call. Please let me know if there's anymore manuscripts in my box before I turn them in."

"I will." Dahyun smiles before returning to her desk outside.

I thank her before going into my office and shutting the door behind me.

Knowing that my mother mostly likely tracks the phone calls that come from my office I dial Yoongi's number on my cellphone as I take a seat behind my desk.

    "Hello?"

"Hyung, you called me?" I ask knowing well that he did.

"I did." He says, I hear him moving around on the other line.

    "What's the matter?" I ask.

He chuckles. "Does something have to be wrong for us to talk to each other, Jiminie?"

I smile a little. "I guess not. But why are you calling now? You know I'm at work what if I didn't get the call?"

"I was just thinking about you." He says making me fall silent.

"Oh." I say trying to fight the growing smile on my face.

    "But if you're busy~"

"No!" I say cringing at the eagerness in my voice. "I mean...no. I'm not busy."

    "Are you sure?" Yoongi chuckles.

"Positive." I say turning in my chair and facing the window. "Lets talk."

    "Okay. Lets talk."
