Chapter Fourteen

 I got into the Audi, putting the key into the ignition. I pulled off, turning up the radio. Today was the day that we go settle what is mine and what is Chris’s. I told the kids and surprisingly they understood. Kalia and Caleb were crying but Leilani and Christian explain to them. Leilani and Christian have been through it all with me and they understand.

 I pulled up to the law firm, parking the car. I got out, grabbing my purse. I walked inside, to the front desk.

 '’Hello, I’m here to see Mr. Lewis.’’ I said. She nodded, typing something into the computer.

 ‘’Oh yes, Mrs. Brown. He’s down in room 128.’’ She said. I nodded, walking down the hall. I opened the door to 128, walking inside. I sat down beside Mr. Lewis, which was the seat in front of Chris.

 ‘’Ok, let’s get this meeting started. Mrs. Brown what all do you own?’’ Chris’s lawyer, Mrs. Gonzalez asked.

 ‘’The house, the Audi and Range Rover, and much more. I have them all wrote down in this notebook.’’ I said, sliding the notebook to her. I sat back in my chair, looking at my nails.

 ‘’We should be more focused on the children.’’ Mr. Lewis said.

 ‘’Yes, the kids will go see their father every weekend. If they want to they can stay a week. As long as he does having any random women around our children then we will be ok. Also, I don’t want any money from him. As long as our children are happy, that’s all that matters.’’ I stated. I looked over at Chris, who was just sitting there.

 ‘’Mr. Brown are you aware that you are staying in her house?’’ Mr. Lewis asked.

 ‘’Yeah I’m aware of that. I’m currently in the process of moving out.’’ He said.

 ‘’Take this Christopher, because it doesn’t have meaning anymore.’’ I said, handing Chris the necklace he gave me years back.

 ‘’No keep it, give it to Kalia or Leilani.’’ He said, handing it back to me. I put it in my purse, sitting back. I was sitting back, chilling. Mr. Lewis looked at me.

 ‘’Ok now to bank accounts. Do you and your ex-wife, I might as well say have separate accounts?’’ Mr. Lewis asked.

 ‘’Yes we have separate bank accounts.’’ Chris said. I looked down at my watch. It was eleven fourteen. I let out some air.

 ‘’Here are the divorce papers. We have to get them legalized but after that you two will not be married anymore.’’ Mr. Lewis handed us both a set of papers and a pen. I began filling it out, thinking about how this going to be. I handed the papers back to Mr. Lewis. Chris handed it to his lawyer, shortly after I did.

 ‘’I’ve gotta get going.’’ I said, standing up. I grabbed my purse, walking out of the room. Chris came walking behind me.

 ‘’Kai, I just wanna tell you, I wish nothing but the best for you. You really deserve more than me. I mean I’ve did a lot to you and I know that I’m not the best but I’ll always be in love with you. I’m here if you need me.’’ Chris said. He gave me a friendly hug.

 ‘’I know you are and I wish you the best. Meet the right girl and treat her right Chris but don’t ever give her my nicknames. That are special and are only between me and you.’’ I said, smiling. He nodded, as we walked out of the building. ‘’We just need to be friends.’’ I said, opening the door.

 ‘’Yeah, and can the kids come to my new house this weekend. I’m having a housewarming party.’’ He said.

 ‘’Yeah, I’ll come with them.’’ I said. He nodded and walked off. I got into the Audi, put the key into the ignition. I backed out, pulling off. I turned up the radio, blasting the Migos. I’m a twenty-nine, going on thirty year old woman. I’ve got five kids, I’m raising. Soon, Brielle is going to be out and getting married.

 I pulled up to the house, getting out. I walked up to the door, walking inside. I seen that Brielle had all of them asleep. Karrueche walked out of the kitchen.

 ‘’How did it go?’’ She asked.

 ‘’Better than I expected. He invited the kids and I to his housewarming party. The divorce will final in a few days.’’ I said, walking into the living room. I sat down, looking at the TV.

 ‘’In other news, Kai’lani Brown and Chris Brown are reportedly getting a divorce. The couple has been together for ten years and counting. We surely don’t hope they didn’t end it.’’ The woman said.

 ‘’Will we did.’’ I said, getting up. I walked into the kitchen, grabbing a apple. I bit into it, letting the juice come out. I sat down, looking at my ring finger. The place where I had the ring at, it was paler than the rest of my skin.

 ‘’How about we go to the club next weekend.’’ Karrueche suggested.

 ‘’Sure.’’ I said, biting into the apple.

 ‘’I’ve gotta get going. Just keep your head up, Kai. Maybe you’ll find a great guy that will love you and the kids.’’ She said, giving me a hug. She walked out of the house, closing the door behind herself. I really do hope I find that somebody that can accept me and my kids. Brielle had Kalia and Caleb across both of her shoulder. I walked over to the couch, putting Christian and Leilani over my shoulders.

 I walked up the stairs, to their room. I laid Leilani in her bed, and Christian in his. These two are best friends. Even though Leilani is older, they do everything together. They even sleep in the same room. I walked out, closing the door. Brielle walked down to me.

 ‘’Do you still love my dad?’’ She asked.

 ‘’I always will but the marriage wasn’t working out. He cheated too much for me. I hope that if he gets married again that he’ll be faithful to her, since he wasn’t with me.’’ I said. She nodded, walking downstairs. I think I’ll stay in this house, and maybe let my sister stay in the other house. They know about the divorce so it doesn’t matter.
