one kai’lani
It’s been two months since that day. I’ve been so stressed out, that I lost our child. Chris is sitting in jail, awaiting his trial. I can’t believe he’s in jail. Ms. Joyce has been helping out with me and the kids. I got out of bed, walking downstairs to the kitchen. Being here in this house is dreadful because I don’t have my baby here. The house phone began to ring. I grabbed it, pressing talk.
‘’You have a collect call from Los Angeles Correctional center.’’ The operator said. I accepted it, then waited.
‘’Hey babe.’’ He said.
‘’Hi baby, it’s been dreadful without you here.’’ I said, looking at my hand.
‘’I miss you too, I gotta go to Washington.’’ He said. I sighed, leaning against the counter.
‘’Baby, why did you have to get in trouble? Chris, you need to stop acting young because you have a family.’’ I said
‘’I know, I know. Times ‘bout out. I love you and this kids.’’ He said, before the call ended. I sighed, hanging it up. Chris need to really get his shit together. I walked out of the kitchen to the living room. I sat down on the couch, looking at the TV. If he’s guilty, he could serve up to four years. I laid there, thinking about this whole situation. What the hell is going to happen to this family if he is guilty? I just may can’t do it.

I sat in this cold jail cell. I hate it here, and I just wanna be home with my kids and my beautiful wife. I need to stop acting young because it’s getting me nowhere. Plus I’m in a special unit, for the celebrities. What type of example am I setting for my kids? Man, I’m not being a man for my kids. Kai’lani loss our son or daughter because of all this stress she has. Man, this is just as hard for her as it is for me.
She got the responsibilities of holding down the house, taking care of the kids, and she has the businesses with Heather. The faster I get out of here, the better. I had to get my head on my shoulders and then it’s going to be a better man.
‘’Inmate #2576980, you have a visitor.’’ The guard said. I walked out of the cell, down to the visitor windows. My mom stood in front me.
‘’Christopher, you need to stay out of trouble.’’ She said, looking at me.
‘’I know mama. I know, I’mma gon’ change. I got to take care of my kids, and I’m going to be a good husband. Ma, you lose the baby because of me. I just feel guilty.’’ I said.
‘’I’m here helping her. She just stays in the house all day, not going outside unless the kids want to.’’ She said.
‘’I miss all of them. Ma, I wanna go home. I just want this to be over, and I wanna hold Kai in my arms.’’ I said.
‘’We’re going to be up there in DC, when your trial is starting. All of us, Kai, Brielle, Alana, Kalia, Caleb, Leilani, Christian, and I are going to be there. We’re 100% with you all the way.’’ My mom said, wiping her tears. It hurts to see my mom cry.
‘’Momma, I’m gonna do better. I promise you. You’re gonna be proud of me one day.’’ I said.
‘’Chris, baby. I’m always proud of you. I always have and I always will. Don’t ever think I’m not. You’ve always made me proud.’’ She said, letting the tears fall. I looked at my mom, wipe her tears. I touched the glass then she touched it. ‘’I’ll always be proud of you Christopher, always.’’ She said.
‘’Momma, don’t cry. You know I’mma momma’s boy. Listen, thank you for being here for me. I want you to go and tell Kai that I’m thankful for her. I’m sorry everything I’ve caused her. I’m just wanna hold her in my arms mom.’’ I said.
‘’Baby, if you don’t plead guilty, then she’ll be running into your arms.’’ She said. I nodded, smiling. She smiled, looking at me.
‘’Mom, I know. I just wanna hold her in my arms forever. I never wanna let go because she’s been through hell and back with me.’’ I said.
‘’Believe I know. I’ve gotten calls and texts about your misdoings. Chris, treat that girl right because she’s not gonna be here forever.’’ She said.
‘’Yes ma’am. Where are the kids?’’ I asked, looking down at this dingy-orange jumpsuit.
‘’At home with their momma. I bet you she has her head tied up. Chris them kids is just so energetic.’’ She said.
‘’I know, they get it from me.’’ I said, looking down at my tattooed hand.
‘’Yes, I remember when you were little and you would run around the house in them little boxers. Your so grown up now, it’s crazy.’’ She said, looking at me like she remembered the moment like it was yesterday.
‘’Momma, I was a little boy then.’’ I said, smiling.
‘’And you’re still one now. I’ve gotta get going Chris. I’ll see you later, baby.’’ She said, getting up. I got up, putting my hand to the glass. She put her hand there, smiling. We walked our separate ways. Man, I need to get my act right.
