Chapter Seventeen

 I was looking in my closet for clothes. Cameron is going to be here by ten and I just wanna look casual. I decided on a grey American Apparel loose fit tank, dark Krush Girlz choppa legs skinny jeans, with my white Converse high top platform shoes. My hair was curly. I grabbed my phone, walking downstairs. There was a knock on the door. I opened the door to see Cameron looking fine as ever.

 ‘’Hey Cameron.’’ I greeted, giving him a hug.

 ‘’This is for you.’’ He said, handing me a rose. I smiled, smelling it. I walked into the kitchen, putting it into a vase. I walked back to him.

 ‘’Lets go.’’ I said. He nodded, leading me to his black Ferrari. He opened the door for me. ‘’Thank you.’’ I thanked, getting in. He closed the door, jogging around to the driver side. He got in, letting down the top. He pulled off, turning up the radio. I smiled, looking at the city as we drove down the road.

 ‘’You look nice.’’ He complimented. I smiled, looking down at my shoes.

 ‘’Thank you very much. You look handsome.’’ I thanked, taking out my phone. He pulled into the parking lot of Starbucks. He parked the car, getting out. He walked around, opening my car door. I smiled, taking his hand. We walked inside, waiting in the long line.

 ‘’What are you going to order?’’ He asked.

 ‘’My usual which is a blended caramel ribbon crunch Frappuccino, and three blueberry yogurt muffins with honey. What about you? What are you going to order?’’ I asked, looking up at him.

 ‘’Well when I’m on my way to work, I usually get a iced coffee with milk.’’ He said. I nodded, moving up. Cameron was being distant. I grabbed his arm, throwing it around my shoulder.

 ‘’Stop being so distant.’’ I said. He smiled, moving closer to me.

 ‘’I know you just go divorce, I don’t wanna make you uncomfortable with this. I want us to go slow, it’s really up to you.’’ He said.

 ‘’Cameron, we need to take the time and get to know each other. I’ve been hurt and I’m not about to get hurt again. You know I have kids and they have to meet you then I have my friends and sister. Chris has to meet you, that’s a lot I don’t want you to get scared off.’’ I quickly said.

 ‘’I understand, just know if you wanna get together I’m going to be here.’’ He assured. I nodded, moving up. I know this a little bit too soon to be going out but damn I’m a single woman I can do whatever the hell I want. We were finally at the front of the line.

 ‘’Welcome to Starbucks, what would you like?’’ The woman asked.

 ‘’I would a blended caramel ribbon crunch Frappuccino, and three blueberry yogurt muffins with honey.’’ I said.

 ‘’What about you sir?’’ The woman asked.

 ‘’I’ll just have a ice coffee with milk.’’ Cameron said. I looked to my left to see Chris and some girl. Lord you know I don’t wanna to talk to this man, I came here to just embrace this single lifestyle. I took out my wallet, but Cameron stopped me. ‘’I gotta it. Go pick us out a table and I’ll be there.’’ He said. I nodded, walking away.

 I picked a table that was near the back of the restaurant. I took out my phone, texting Heather. ‘’I’m out with Cameron and guess who I see at Starbucks?’’ I texted. She instantly replied, ‘’Who girl?’’ She asked. ‘’Chris and some girl but I’m not jealous or anything cuz’ Cameron is a good man. He said he doesn’t wanna make a move since I just got out of the divorce. He is so sweet.’’ I texted.

 ‘’I’m back.’’ Cameron said, sitting down. He handed my stuff to me. I smiled, sipping on my drink. Cameron and I began to start talking and we really hit it off. He made me laugh really hard.

 ‘’So you were hiding butt naked in the basement because your brother was going to beat you with his leather belt?’’ I asked, laughing.

 ‘’Yeah he threatened to make me not have children.’’ He said. I was laughing hard.

 ‘’So do you have any children?’’ I asked.

 ‘’One, and it’s a boy. His name is Cameron Daniel Richardson.’’ He said. I nodded, smiling. ‘’Maybe one day our kids can meet.’’ He suggested.

 ‘’I would like that.’’ I smiled, sipping on my drink. Chris and his friend walked toward us. I rolled my eyes, grabbing Cameron’s hand. I intertwined our fingers.

 ‘’Whatcha’ doing here Kai’lani?’’ Chris asked.

 ‘’I’m out with my friend, Cameron. What are you doing here, you should be watching our kids.’’ I stated, looking at him.

 ‘’I’m here with my friend, Kelana.’’ He said. What the hell? Kelana and Kai’lani sound alike. She gave me a smile and small wave. I just went back to looking at Cameron.

 ‘’Ok tell about that time when you were at a party.’’ I said.

 ‘’Well I accidently kissed a guy and almost had sex with him.’’ He said.

 ‘’I’m literally dead, you are just so funny.’’ I said, smiling. He smiled, kissing my hand. Chris was mean mugging the hell out of him. ‘’Do you need something Chris, if you don’t get to steppin.’’ I snarled. He grabbed Kelana’s hand, walking out of the restaurant.

 ‘’You ok?’’ He asked.

 '’Yeah I’m fine, Cammy.’’ I said. He gave me the stale face.

 ‘’You know I hate that nickname.’’ He said. I giggled, looking at him. He was just staring at me.

 ‘’What? Do I have something in between my teeth?’’ I asked, wiping my teeth.

 ‘’No you’re just beautiful.’’ He complimented. I looked down, blushing. I ain’t felt this way in a while, Cameron is just doing things to me and it feels good.
