"Ste! Steve! Come on! Wake up! Wake up!" I hear Bucky shout.
Opening my eyes, I'm looking straight at Bucky as he taps my cheek. He's sat on top of me, shaking my shoulders and there's blood dripping from his lip.
"Ste, can you hear me?" He asks.
"Yeah." I grumble.
He stands up, offering his hand to me and pulling me onto my feet.
"They took her, Bucky. Why would SHIELD take Kitty like that? Why wouldn't they just ask me to bring her to the base? What is going on?" I question.
"I don't know. But I do know I am not just going to stand around and not get answers." He hisses.
Bucky wanders into the living room and comes out to walk to the front door, pulling on his jacket and slipping his gun into the back of his jeans.
"Where are you going?" I ask.
"To SHIELD."
I follow him out of the front door and climb into the car. He starts the engine and I instantly regret letting him drive. Bucky pulls sharply out of the drive, just missing the wall. Curling my hand around the handle on the roof of the car, I double check I have my seatbelt on properly.
"Buck, think you can drive a little safer?" I ask.
"I can't believe they took her. Did they say anything to you?" He questions.
"No."
"Did you say anything to anyone about her nightmares?"
Then it hits me. Like all the fights and punches I've ever had in one.
Natasha.
I told Natasha that I think Kitty has a power. I trusted her.
"No." I whisper after a pause.
"Steve Rogers, what did you do?" He quizzes, glancing over at me as he swerves around a corner.
"I may have mentioned my thoughts to Natasha."
"Natasha? Natasha? Why, Steve?" He questions.
Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Bucky grip the steering wheel tighter, his knuckles turning white.
"She's my friend." I point out.
"Obviously not! She's told Fury about Kitty's power and now she's gone." He argues.
"Don't you think I know that? I know Natasha told him. I know that now, Bucky. But right now, we don't need to worry about that. We just need to think about getting Kitty back." I explain.
"Yes." He hisses.
Pulling into the car park, we stride into the building and I scan my card at the gate. Handing my ID badge over to Bucky, he steps through and we walk into the lift.
The second the doors spring open, I see a glimpse of red hair and I jump out of the lift. I pin her against the wall, one arm across her neck and the other on her shoulder. She doesn't fight. Her eyes are wide with fear and sparkle with guilt.
"Why? Why Natasha?" I question.
"I had to." She mutters.
"No. No you didn't. I told you in confidence, you're my friend and I trusted you." I argue.
"You don't know how much power this girl has, she could be dangerous." Natasha announces.
Angrily, I shove her and take a step back. Fury glares at me and I can even sense his eye behind his patch judging me.
