A lie that works

Aaron POV

I wanted to hit Hercules so much, but I remembered Alexander. He is his friend and it is better that I don't hit him. If I do it, it sure will never please me, so I forgave Hercules.

Speaking with him, I noticed he's not as bad as I thought. I'm sure he has a good background, even if he hits me often.

The only person I can't forgive is Alexander. Before I had feelings for him, but at the same time I loved Theodosia and she told me about her feelings. I decided to go out with her and leave Alexander to someone else even if I could not forget her, but as soon as he started to intimidate me, my feelings for him disappeared. I told myself he hates me and wants me dead. But in fact, he intimidated me because he could not bear to see me with Theo?

I am so frustrated that I can't even accept the feelings of the one I loved before. I am so frustrated that I can't keep all this for myself and I have to write it in a diary. I am really a fool.

"Aaron." Thomas says.

"mmmh." I says, looking for James.

"Where is James?" I always ask looking for him.

"He's with his cousin." Thomas says.

"Is it true that you're going out with Alex?" He asks.

"And you, it's true that you started smoking again?" I ask him insistently.

"Answer my question." He says shyly.

"..." I say nothing and wait for him to answer me.

"I felt bad, so I started again ...." I cut it.

"Is it because I told you that I love James?" I ask worried. He hesitates, but finally nods.

"I'm so sorry." I say.

"Why do you apologize? It's my fault and the fault of nobody else. " He says. I smile at him and I sigh at the same time.

"Yes, I'm going out with Alex." I says reluctantly. He takes my shoulder.

"He forced you?" I shake my head and my hands.

"Not at all," I say, wanting to calm him down.

"Don't tell me you accepted, because it's safer for you?" I nod, slowly embarrassed that he's found so quickly. He sighs.

"I don't think it's a good idea." He says.

"I don't think either, but for the moment it works."I say sure of myself.

The bell rings. James come to us and we go to class together.

Alexander POV

During the class, people keep looking at Reynolds. He has bandages on his head, bandages on his face and scars. He keeps looking at Aaron furiously.

"James Reynolds and Aaron Burr in my office." the manager says from the intercom.

Everyone starts to talk to each other, not because Reynolds has to go, but because Aaron goes there. Usually Aaron is a student who does not really notice each other, so that's why everyone is a little stunned.

"Shut up!" Says the professor, King George. He always wears a ridiculous
crown on his head.

"Aaron and James, you can go." Says the professor, rubbing his temples.

Aaron gets up first and leaves class followed by Reynolds.

I wonder what's going to happen to him.
